Gotcha ... I've got Newshosting now ... and Newsleecher ... What now?
Now, you plugin the newsgroup info you got from Newshosting into Newsleecher. It should retrieve a HUGE list of available groups for you to browse.
You can start subscribing to groups, starting retrieving message headers, and see what you want - download it at will!
But ... maybe ... there is a better way ... More on this later ...
Okay ... I've found some stuff I want ... I download it, but ... what do I do with it?
So you find a demo of a new game you want to try out. But its like in 20 parts, and a few are missing ... and what the HECK do you do with these parts? How do I get the files missing?
Take a DEEP breath ... is where it gets complicated.
RAR, 000, 001, PART1 - WHAT THE HECK? Where's the ZIP?
ZIP sucks. No one uses it on the newsgroups. Get used to not using ZIP anymore. Its dead (no one told the general public yet).
So what's the deal? RAR? PART1? 000?
Don't fret ... this isn't too bad. RAR is just like ZIP. Its just better. Better compression, better recovery - better everything. To extract the RAR, you just need a RAR capable tool like WinRAR. Install it, associate it with RAR files - and you're all set! It works just like ZIP! 000, PART1, etc are ALL just RAR files. These are MULTIPART RAR files. You need them ALL, and when you extract one, they ALL extract automatically to the specified location. WinRAR does ZIP too, so its the only tool you need.
If you are just doing music or images, chances are you'll never run across RAR. Most images are in JPG format already, and music is all in MP3. You download it - you use it in your favorite tool.
