How Real Time Scaling Works in Opera
Unlike IE or other browsers that simply change text or image size compensate for different screen resolution requirements of websites, Opera took it one step further.
Changing the size of images or text often destroys the clean, intended layout of a website. Smaller images allow text to wrap wrong, and many times, thanks to CSS, increasing the text size in IE will result in ZERO results. Here are some examples:
Here is CNET.COM as the developer intended it, on 1024x768 - no increased fonts: (click for full size)
Now take a look at what happens to Cnet.com if you increase the text size so you can read it better.
Its all but destroyed. And heaven help you if you're browsing in 1400x1250 (laptop). Hope you enjoy squinting.

What is the BEST way to do this? Scale EVERYTHING in real time!
Here is the same site in Opera - at 100% screen size. Still squinting, ya?
Now let's use Opera's real time screen scaling to go to 180% ...
Well hey now .. that's a WHOLE lot easier on the eyes... and NOTHING is trashed. Everything is as it was intended - no broken graphics, no bad tables, no destroyed formatting.
But wait .. there's more ... it works in REVERSE too!
Ever get one of THESE sites? Obviously made for a LOT bigger than your screen ... Lots of horizontal scrolling, blah blah...
Again, NO PROBLEM for Opera. Scale down to 70% ...
Everything fits!
These are just SOME examples of the usefulness of screen scaling.
