A picture is worth 1000 words ...
Everyone has their own favorite image viewer. Maybe its ACDSEE (a low numbered version of course - before it got bloated). Maybe its the free IRFANView. Doesn't matter. Because chances are - you're in your file manager when you're browsing these pictures. It makes sense to have the viewer as part of the file manager.
Heck, we need viewers for everything when it comes right down to it. You don't need to open Paint Shop Pro every time you want to view a file. You don't want to open Word every time you want to sift through documents to find one you're looking for.
One Viewer To Rule Them All ...
Dopus has an extensive viewer system designed with images in mind - but it amazingly works well for other files like Word documents, HTML documents, and others.
Sometimes you just want to browse.
There are two layout styles for the viewer component - Filmstrip and Images styles (you can turn the viewer on anytime - but these styles are made for them). They both have a viewer screen open, but one uses a special 'strip' lister. Like the image below ...
If you're looking at images, there is another toolbar at the bottom for zooming, printing, rotating, etc.
But what happens if you look at other stuff? Like an MP3? If you're looking at an MP3, you get a full blown MP3 tag editor!
If you select a video, it plays in the viewer component.
If you select a Word, Excel, etc. document, it opens in the viewer component.
As you can see, its very versatile and pretty much works as a universal viewer. I'm not saying this will replace any DEDICATED viewer that you already have a long term commitment with. What I will say is; once you are spending time in the file manager and the stuff is already there and integrated - you might find this stuff useful.
Image Conversion
Along with the great little viewer, Dopus v8 has a very decent, quick and dirty image converter. You can convert formats to JPG, PNG, BMP, etc. as well as rotate the image during conversion AND resize it too! Pretty much all anyone needs for the basics. Perfect for making email friendly copies of your digital camera originals - or for the web.
Just highlight the files you want, select the menu option, and you can convert the whole batch at ones, or file by file interactively. You can replace the original, or copy them to the destination lister as they go. Handy.
