    My WiiKey Installation Experience

I bought two WiiKeys to mod my and my friend's Wii. He's the expert, I'm just the dude begging a favor - figure buy one for him too in exchange for his efforts in installing mine.

First off, the Wiikey isn't as easy as it looks - quick solder my ass.

Unfortunately, BOTH the WiiKeys I ordered were BAD. So, four hours down the drain, and probably WEEKS of RMA hassles.

Beware the current lot of Wiikeys floating around out there. Be sure to know your retailer's return policy.

More information as I get it.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm going to wait a bit until its more safe to buy a mod chip without worrying about getting a bad one.

I just witnesses the installation of a wiifree tonight wich is a full open source solution. Pretty simple, almost free and works great. Only thing you need is a pic and a programmer. Mine isn't chipped but it's only a triwing away.

Anyway, those solder points are tiny, i knew they were supposed to be tiny but even then, it was even smaller that i was expecting.

So what are the benefits of using a wii modchip besides the usual playing imports and "backed up games?"

I need to open mine up but for legitimate reasons.

My baby daughter shoved something in the slot, and now it just takes a disc halfway in and spits it out.

    Time to buy a tri-wing.
