Are you a fan of Super Punch-Out?

If you have a Gamecube you might want to pick-up a copy of Fight Night Round 2 (YES it's EA - but this is Super Punch-Out!! people!).

Super Punch-Out!!, Little Mac enter the Fight Night 2 ring
Electronic Arts adds exclusive content to GameCube version of Fight Night Round 2.

Following Electronic Arts' revelation earlier this month that the upcoming GameCube version of NBA Street V3 will feature a playable All-Star team featuring classic Nintendo characters Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach, EA has revealed yet another retro bonus for the GameCube incarnation of one of its titles.
The upcoming GameCube version of EA's Fight Night Round 2 will offer two unique features that are exclusive to Nintendo's console. The GameCube incarnation of EA's second installment in its well received boxing franchise will include the classic Super Nintendo game Super Punch-Out!! as an extra on the Fight Night Round 2 disc and also include the game's main character, Little Mac as an unlockable character in the game.

“We grew up as fans of the Punch-Out!! series that delivered hands-down, the best boxing gaming experience of its time,” said Kudo Tsunoda, executive producer, EA Chicago. “Now we’re offering Nintendo GameCube gamers double the boxing excitement with one of the best sports titles of the past as well as the most realistic and knuckle-clenching boxing game of today with Super Punch-Out!! and EA SPORTS Fight Night Round 2. This is the ultimate match-up.”

“The Punch-Out!! series defined boxing video games,” says George Harrison, Nintendo of America’s senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications. “We have a new contender in the ring that’s changing the face of boxing games. What better way to introduce our Nintendo gamers to EA SPORTS Fight Night Round 2 than allowing gamers to experience two boxing franchises that have had the most impact in this sports genre from the beginning of boxing games to now.”

Fight Night Round 2 is the second installment in the fledgling boxing series and is slated to appear on the GameCube, PlayStation 2, and Xbox this March. In addition to the GameCube specific content, the game adds several new features to the series on all platforms.

For more on the title, read our preview coverage of the upcoming game, including new media to be posted this afternoon.

Hmmm...never heard of this game called "Punch Out," or a young Bronx boy named Little Mac. I will have to check it out.

I know there are not enough Flash Cartoon shows on the Internet, so I have decided to create one. LivingCausesDeath.com - Even Jesus would be proud of it, you wacky God fearing, conservative, science dismissing bastards!

Bryan was a serious Punch Out whore. He would have been sad to miss this easy EA target.

Me, I loved the original. I put a lot of cash into the arcade game - I didn't play the console versions - but rediscovered it in MAME.

I really hated the arcade version for some reasons. This is one of the few cases where the home adaptation was superior. Strider is another case like that

I also liked the NES versions of double dragon better than the arcade versions.

Yep, I played the hell out of the arcade versions AND the console versions (the Mike Tyson version on the NES of course).

I just hope Nintendo never gets the "C-R-A-Z-Y" idea to make a "3D" Punch-Out.

I loved the original and played it till by eyes bled. (I had the version with Tyson replaced by Mr. Dream).

I liked Super Punch Out too - but I never finished it - the old Japanese guy with the cane kept opening a 6 pack of whup-ass on me.

Funny the things you remember. I actually had the original Mike Tyson's Punch Out for the NES where little Mac made his debut. The weird thing is that it came with a letter from Mike Tyson himself and was even signed!!! I think the letter said something about fair play and all that. Rather ironic really.

Sadly I sold it when I was a kid at the local Cash Converters to buy Wing Commander II........a waste really
