The Official Impossible Mission DS thread...

This will be a repository for any info we get on the upcoming DS version of Impossible Mission DS. Here's hoping we get a 2D version, while the other consoles this game is announced for get a full-3D version. I like the idea of the DS playing host to mainly 2D games.

Screw 3D...Its already been shown that its a graphically overhauled 2D remake anyway.

All 3 versions - DS, Wii and PSP - are 2D remakes of the original. I've played the DS and PSP versions and they're both quite faithful. The DS is obviously the one to go for though as the stylus driven key-puzzles work perfectly without ruining what was good about the original game.

Hopefully they'll stay faithful to the original - esp. not overdo the visuals, one thing about the C64 graphics for IM was that they were very clean and combined with audio gave the main character a nice feel.

Fingers crossed it'll turn out like the SMS version which was also an update, but a very faithful one - unlike the CD32 IM 2025 which, although a brand new game rather than a update, wasn't bad, but lost some of the elements of the original and thus became a somewhat run of the mill platformer.

From what I've read though its a straight remake - but I hope they go overboard on the graphics just because they can, I rather they put any extra effort into a couple of new adventures.

Don't worry about the graphics. There are 3 distinct modes, enough to please everyone:

    1. Original C64 graphics.

    2. Completely new graphics.

    3. New graphics with original C64 sprite.
