Wii remote is best-selling accessory in North America

First time I've seen figures like this released, enjoy.

    http://www.gamesindustry.biz/content_page.php?aid=21707

    1) Wiimote 270k
    2) Xbox 360 wireless controller 251k
    3) PS2 Dual Shock 186k (likely combined across colors)
    4) NDS List starter kit 154k
    5) Wii Nunchuck 153k
    6) PS2 Memory Card 152k
    7) PS2 Nyko Memory card 100k
    8) PS3 SixAxis controller 98k
    9) 360 Play and Charge Kit 84k
    10) 360 HD-DVD Drive 42k
The DS lite starter kit is 3rd party, good for them.

Out of all the figures and supply stories that have come out recently the shortage of controllers has got to be the most amazing one, I've never heard of it happening before, ever.

The 360 HD-DVD Drive made it to 10? I guess that 15% is buying. Either that or some 480i owners dont know that HD disc and blue ray wont do them much good at all.

Man, this whole high def DVD battle makes me physically ill.

I got out to Fry's Electronics the other day, and made a point to stop by the TV section and see a blu-ray movie during playback.

I dunno about HD-DVD, but blu-ray didn't impress me at all - nor did jacked up prices on barebones old ass movies impress me (50 First Dates for $20? plz).

I think instead of joining the next gen DVD race, I'm going to get a nice upscaling DVD player pumping through HDMI and enjoy the 3000 movies I ALREADY OWN NOT using a game console to play them.

I did the same thing at Sears on Monday. They had Superman Returns playing on 2 different Sony Plasma TV models side by side, one running off a normal DVD player and the other off Blu-Ray and after staring at the quality and the overall playback (TV with the Blu-Ray had a slightly bigger screen) for about 5 min while the wife played around in another area of the store I'm not feeling it. $1000 for this? No thanks...Not impressed right now, they looked damn near identical to the point that I'd probably lose a contest if I had to guess. I think the main value of this format will be for LCD/Plasma screens that are in the 70 + inch range due to the higher res capabilities but for normal folks that are using 32-42 inch TV's? I'll pass. I was watching Lord of the Rings last night with the wife on DVD with my 37 inch LCD and component out and frankly I am still blown away.

Eventually I'll probably do what Shane just said there although word is HDMI over component on our setups isn't that overwhelmingly amazing that your eyes will burst to be worth it.
