Sad times to consider yourself a gamer

Riots, muggings, drive-by shootings, Florida rednecks sacrificing the mortgage to get PS3s off ebay? Several years ago, I never would've dreamed this miscreant behavior would be associated with my favorite little pastime. What gives? Do the political pigs actually have a point and games really do bring out the worst in people? What the hell is it about gaming over anything else that could incite a grown man to punch out a 15 year old in a store? I mean the PS3 launch is one thing but this was just over Gears of War - A game! I didn't even want to play Gears after hearing that. It didn't want to share a single interest with these people.

It fails to click. Gaming is is personal too me, and I like to think that I have a good understanding of it, which is why I'm struggling to see an association with this rampant, sheepish behavior.

What it really equates to is excessive uncontrolled actions.
Sadly anything can be good or bad it is all moderation.
Take alcohol as a simple example. One drinks no problem many drinks without care for the consequence will eventually lead to problems.
I think that we can liken these sad examples to the unchecked excessive behavior.
Everything in life has consequences be them good or bad.
This poor behavior is a disregard for the consequence of their actions.
I have children and sadly I find myself explaining that too much video games is bad.
As a child all I ever wanted to do was 100% games.
I often hear myself saying there is more to life than video games.
Left unchecked the perception of my children could warp.
Moderation and control is the key to keeping order.

Ugg I never thought to say or believe these things. Sucks to grow up!
