    Wii is Region locked

So Wii will be region locked.

Is it just me, or do bad things happen every time Perrin Kaplan opens her mouth? She was also the one that blurted out the whole no High Def thing before (it seemed) the company was ready to deal with the issue.

Nintendo should hire someone to follow her around with a mop whenever the press is around.

    Indeed!

Weird... considering everything I've read said to the contrary.

What I read was: Nintendo First Party games will be region free; third party - it's up to them.

The confusion comes from the fact that Perry Kaplin NOA Vice Pres said that First Party games would not be Region locked, and then yesterday at the UK Wii unveiling, the Nintendo General Manger sadi that the Wii games wold be Region Locked

So there you go, no official word. Strange that the DS isn't and the Wii would be... still waiting for final official word.

This is where I feel Nintendo has dropped the ball a bit, not in the Region free deal, but we should have an OFFICIAL rundown of whats coming in the box, what games are shipping, if it's region free or not, all that stuff, cause regardless of what was announced yesterday there are stll too many loose ends flying around that need to be tied up.

Joystiq posted a "One Complete Wii" Thread listing all available info so far and the Region Code situation is still isted as Region-Free... take that for what it's worth...

If that is the case then that sucks major ass. Not fussed about the DVD I can live without that but I was really counting on the Wii on being region free. Lets hope theres a way to over come the region lock then. (Freeloader?)
