    EB Games rant

I just went to EB Games today and picked up Break 'Em All for me, and Age of Empires for my wife. The Break 'Em All was the last copy, so I got one in a zip-lock bag (I got a proper boxed and sealed Age of Empires). I know someone else posted about this too. I feel somewhat gipped paying full price for a copy that was opened. Plus they put the sticker right on the bare plastic covering of the case, and a piece of tape covering the hole on the side, both of which left goo when I pulled them off. Normally I wouldn't care, but the DS cases are kinda designed to be kept (like DVD cases), and I ended up mangling the plastic trying to get the goo off.

    Maybe I'm just anal.

Oh, and I noticed they had Phoenix Wright. Too bad I didn't check the store before I ordered a copy from the UK. *sigh*

Yeah, stuff like that happens. I like to have my cases in top-notch condition; I hope I find more than one copy of Break Em All when I get it.

If I'm buying a game from them and I find out it's the last copy with the baggy and all. I tell them cancel it.. I dont want it unless it's sealed/new. Sorry. Otherwise wtf am I paying full price for?

I HATE the goo!!!! I know exatly how you feel. It seems the stickers they use were never intended to come off cleanly. I also can't stand the security stickers they put on the edges of new dvd cases. Sometimes they come off in one shot but often, it's goo city.

Goo Gone is awesome stuff. We have people at my work just soak the side of shoe boxes with the stuff, makes it really easy to get the sales sticker off. Then it just evaporates away and you can't even tell it was ever there. It sucks that you need to buy extra product to get the box the way you want it, but it works like a charm.

Also, you might try asking your local game store if they have extra (clean) cases they would trade you, sometimes they'll have some left from display games and such that you can just swap the cover art with.

While we are talking about security measures, what is up with the unbreakable plastic sealing they put most electronics in? It's impossible to open that with your hands, unless you want to really mangle the case. I always have to open it with a pair of scissors, which wrecks the packaging.

This is why we did our editorial, for crap like this. I mean how freakin rediculous is it that you gotta use Goo Gone to open a RESEALED "NEW" game, its sickening. And ditto that NE...If it's in the ziplock, they can kiss my ass.

I know you guys officially did the rant, but I can't complain enough. EB & Gamestop piss me off to an extreme when they do this s*it!

Thanks guys, it's nice to know I'm not the only one who gets bothered by stuff like this.

It's hard for me to pass on getting the last copy because I also have a problem with needing instant gratification.

It all worked out for me this time though because my wife *doesn't* care if the cases are in pristene condition, so she traded with me.

Why can't EB be like other places and put the games in theft-proof packaging rather than opening up a copy for display? Or you'd think they could get an empty case from Nintendo for display only.

P.S. Angryrooster, thanks for the recommendation of Goo-Gone. I should get some.

Why are games always locked behind glass and not CDs and DVDs?
