    Supercard

    Ok question for all yall,

I'm thinking of snagging the superkey supercard combo dealie up, (i'll be modding quite a few lites i'm sure so i dont mind spending the extra 10 bucks so that i have a no hassle method, what i'm wondering, any recomendations as to Supercard CF, SD, MiniSD any pro's cons to each, besides price for memory, i can figure out which is cheaper, just wondering about any issues, such as the thing sticking extra far out of the ds lite more so then a gba card, or ?? just other issues that would swing to one format or another

Thanks in advance. or should i say Thanks in DS? ok that was just stupid.

Supercard Mini sticks out LESS. It also has battery backup for the SRAM (not even really a big deal anymore). Otherwise, it's the same deal.

Oh, and you don't have to take the miniSD version out of the DS to remove the memory card. A HUGE thing to me.

The Supercard CF also has this advantage, but I think the CF support for homebrew is starting to wane, SD(in one size or another) is the future, and since they all use the same standards, the firmware support should be similar among all the versions.

    Biggest to smallest in size:

    • Supercard CF - Sticks out a lot... a couple centimeters on the Phat probably about an inch from the Lite.
    • Supercard SD - Sticks out 1 cm from the Phat, 2 cm from a Lite.
    • Supercard miniSD - Sits flush with Phat, sticks out about a centimeter from the Lite.

The miniSD is the hot item right now... only a matter of time before the microSD version is announced and sits flush with the Lite.

    Mini SD Flash Memory

I've ordered up the superkey and two Supercards MiniSD and had them shipped to my sisters place in the states who i'm visiting in about 3 weeks. So i have some time to shop around for the flash memory itself.

I've been doing some reading around about different brands, and speed issues, playback etc. for things like videos in games, or slowdown, the thing i've heard most is that the a-data brand 60x memory in either the 1gig or 2 gig size seems to be working well,

Has anyone gone through this trial and error with the memory and found the sweet spot or prefered brand. i just want to make sure I pick up a good set of memory and save any future headaches, and i knew this was the place to ask.

From what I hear (and I can attest) that San Disk is what they developed the Supercard WITH ... if you stick with that, you're good. That's what I ended up with myself on the miniSD.

There is a thread over at the Unofficial Supercard forums that people have contributed their experiences with.

Also, from everything I've read, 60x is as fast as you need to go - the supercard doesn't read any faster than that.

I can verify that the PQI brand works perfectly, and when I did my shopping they were very nicely priced. I ordered from http://www.digi4me.com and the shipping was free on my order. Highly recommended.

OK, I am new to the DS and I dont own one YET. I am huge in to emulation and playing all the classics on my pocket pc. A quick question if I opt not to flash my DS will I just have to convert a rom load it on my SD card, put the SD card in the Supercard, then put the Superkey and the Supercard in the DS. Do i have to install any other programs ont he SD card? I am new sorry if this is an ignorant question.

If what you want is portable emulation, there are far better choices than the DS. The GP2x (recommended) and the PSP are both better in this department.

Emulation on the DS is simply lackluster. If you're buying a DS for that reason, you WILL be disappointed.

No, I have my Ipaq for the emulation. The reason I mentioned was because I have a ton of roms. I was just wondering about what I had to do to the Superkey and the Super card out of the box to plug and play, incase I decide not to flash.
