If you still flash the DS, would this essentially just be a passme? My flashed old DS works in sleep mode with an original card in the DS, is this a DS Lite only issue? Seems a bit expensive for a passme only type device, unless you intend to use it on non flashed ds'es
If your INTENTION was to flash your DSLite, then yes this would allow you to do that then no longer need the card at all (Obviously) since you'd be using this card to run the flashme update from the GBA flash/Supercard to update and hence flash your DS/DSLite. So yes, this is essentially a passme device without all the BS and a simple insert and go solution cart.

ok, that is what i figured... so my question is - why spend $30 for this one? Why not buy the cheapest passme type device that is compatible with the DS Lite since it is a one use and toss item? Why would Shane buy it then????

    Because it supports Sleep Mode.

but you can stick a DS cart in there and the supercard supports sleep mode... this should not be a reason to buy another passme type device

I enjoy the skinny but unless you are getting these for free shane, i still dont get it...

    Superpass 2/Passkey 2 - $14.95
    Passcard 3/Superkey - $30

All (if you flash) are put in your closet after one use... so i assume you buy cheapest, or borrow from a friend....but see no reason have MORE THAN ONE of these!

That is correct on all counts. However, instead of leaving a game in there after flashing, you can leave the Superkey in instead.

You also have no Passme2 issues like programming, using a specific game or doing any BS IQSRAM tricks. I've seen what Superpass2 people go through to make it work. Screw that. I have a real passme2 straight from Natrium42 - that's $25 + shipping and you have to use the game the card was programmed for AND use IQSRAM. If you don't have battery backed up SRAM, you have to do the power cycle fast insert. Blah blah. Just SUCKS.

You are right - of course - these items appear to be ONE USE devices if you're flashing. But, somehow, there always seems to be another use for it. Be it flashing someone else's (or loaning it to someone else - someone has to buy these things up front, right? My passme1 and passme2 are like the villiage whore - almost everyone I know has benefited from me having them - and I've loaned them to my friends probably a half a dozen times). With something like the MML or Superkey, though, I don't have to loan the game or worry that my passme2 will come back f'ed up - these little DS cards are durable and easy to pass around.

As I said, if all you're doing is a one time flash for yourself and don't mind packing a real DS card with you, the cheap ass MML is perfectly acceptable. For anyone wanting to use a more long term solution until they get the balls to flash their DS or plan on doing "a few" DSes or sharing (most of us are the techinical POCs for our family and friends anyway) - then this is a better solution.

As well, if you're afraid of messing up and bricking the DS Lite, the superkey can let you run homebrew without having to flash it...
So, you can loan someone the superkey and supercard to try it out and see how they like it as well..
Um, that is correct right Shane?

As well, I hardly messed around with IQsram or anything much at all when flashing my DS.. I suppose my old DS and Feel The Magic was enough for it work..

    That's correct.

IQSRAM is part of the Passme2 system which wasn't required on original DS classics. The passme1 device with ANY game would work without oddities.

What kills me are things like the Superpass2 which requires not only that you PROGRAM it from a PC to a particular game, but (apparently) you have to have a SPECIAL version of IQSRAM *for that game*, and finally - you have to have the game itself. if the real passme2 wasn't a bitch enough, they give you EXTRA steps

I had the SuperPass2 Special Edition which didn't seem to require me programming to Feel The Magic.. I was surprised that I was able to do it without doing any more steps..
