    Amiga Game Intro Podcast

After the success of the Amiga Demo Podcast and at the request of a number of people in various forums, I have started the Amiga Game Intro Poodcast.

You can subscribe, as with the demo podcast, to either an H.264 or a DivX video feed.

The first intro is Another World by Delphine Software.

Head on over to Amiga Demo Podcast and check it out, let me know what you think.

If you wouldn't mind, also digg the article at digg.com to boost its exposure.

iTunes isn't liking it. I subscribed to the new feed but its not having it, says it can't download the files. All my other podcasts are working fine, including the Amiga Demo one.

Have you tried subscribing again, cos there were some routing issues to Europe recently?

It says there are no playable filetypes, its not liking the feed. Opening upo the feed link and manually copying just the URL part has given me the H264 version, but I'd rather have the DivX one so I can transcode to PSP.

Don't suppose you'd like to do a SP MP4 PSP version of the feed and save us the transcode? PSP SP files will also play on PC...

iTunes doesn't recognise DivX files, that's why you are getting that problem. H.264/MP4 is all that iTunes recognises.

I'll look into possibly doing a PSP version (SP MP4 - I take it that is Simple/standard Profile).

Hmm, odd. The Amiga Demo link fr DivX worked fine, though it doesn't download the shows. I can see me changing to something else for this...

Yes, SP is Simple Profile, but PSP is quite specific in its frame rates and resolution etc. Easiest method is to use PSPVideo9 for the transcode, it makes it a fairly simple single click operation once you've set the default configuration how you want. PSP can handle some of the newer features using later profiles, but these don't play on PC and there's the added disadvantage that early firmware PSPs don't play them either. As we know, earlier firmware is often used for emulators etc on PSP so its likely to be a core part of your audience can only use SP MP4.

I'll have a look at the PSPVideo9 thingy, and see if there is a Mac-based solution. I'll see what it encodes like and then "maybe" try a PSP feed.

Does that PSPVideo9 produce video that plays on ALL PSP's?

Yes, PSPVideo9 is specifically for PSP encoding. As long as you use the SP profiles, it'll work on all PSPs. The AVC profiles only work on PSPs with firmware 2.0 or above.

For the likes of these demos and intros, the 320x240 @ 29.97fps setting is probably the best option to maintain aspect ratio and frame rate as close to the source as you'll get (I tend to use that setting for TV caps and its watchable enough).
