Not particularly, but it does demonstrate a few things (those relevant to the topic - I wasn't going to post a long listing of bugs found and fixed in a day, now, would I)

You'll read the rest in my autobiography (not!)

I'm going to end the debacle with "different country, different situation". You're all wired up, while it costs use $10 a hit to sneeze in public. If I were in your shoes I'd probably be screaming about handhelds too.

As pointed out again and again by my fellow US residents, we don't get the luxuries. Of course, we don't have VAT either What is that? 23% or something? I know it used to be horrible.

In any event, I'll leave it at that.

All written in binary zeros and ones , no less! Only for the truly hardcore

Shane, wifi is free everywhere, though I understand accessing the internet through GPRS would be prohibitively expensive to you now. But anyway, that sort of handheld would cost like 400 bucks over there, it DEFINITELY doesn't make sense for you guys.

Change is coming though. Believe it or not. (I know you don't believe it, but hey .. I am used to it by now )

HOWEVER ... the point I was making is that convergence works, no such thing as "tiny devices mean tiny crappy screans" and all that. There can be (and there ARE) great convergence devices even today, so imagine what we'll have in a few years time at a lower cost and at a MUCH higher market penetration.

I assume you mean wifi is free everywhere over there in London? Because free wifi here in the US? Nah ah.

You also have to remember, its easier for London to be this way. England is about the size of NY state alone. Free wifi for the entire US is a long way from that dude.

Right now here in dumpy, trashy Philadelphia...The horrible mayor just made this huge event about how the entire city will have wireless in its 135 mile radius. Free to a point, otherwise $19.99 a month. It'll be done by 2007.

So its a start but you'd be surprised at how much of the US population are still using 56k dial up. Quite a bit of it.

Anyway, no offense but could we start keeping in with the thread topic for the future. All this talk is horribly off topic. All these DSR threads seem to get caught up in the amazing "Cellphone" talk. Make a thread dedicated to it if you like.

So, me living in Mexico... if I wanted to flee to another place... where should I go... London or the US?... or Canada?

No dude. I was talking about the uses of wifi in that post of mine (which was the point of reference for the comments I was discussing). At home, and at work. I meant that nobody can stop you from using the wifi capabilities of your device for free, as long as you have an access point nearby that you can "hit" with any other wifi device anyway.

Hehe, I'd say you need to wait for another 3-4 years and your options will be ... more than you can handle

Also, the providers shouldn't disable Bluetooth capabilities in phones in order to force you to buy ringtones from them. That's downright criminal.

Hey, I didn't start it! Tell Shane off, he said I was plugging a "3d cellphone" where in fact I didn't even say anything specific.

And don't call it cellphone! Do you call your car "roof" just because it has one ? (I didn't even use it as a cellphone as you can see if you read my post)
