Starving Students Edition CDROMs Are Ready

Alright ... I finished up the Starving Student's Edition of the RGR Archives as mentioned on a previous show. Here is a link:

    http://retrogamingradio.com/dvdrom/starving.php

It will be on sale for $19.95 for awhile, then it will move to its regular price of $24.95. Please read everything carefully about what this edition is (or rather is NOT) before ordering. It's about as BARE BONES as it gets. But I think many people will find it quite a deal.

Once again, I will stress - if you already own the Year 1-6 DVDROMs - there is NO reason or need to purchase these CDs. There is nothing NEW or EXCLUSIVE to these. I am working on a script/program that will allow you to take your own Year 1-5/6 DVDs and create the same set (basically just properly rename and tag everything like the CDROM has).

The turn around time on these should be considerably faster - as it takes less time to prepare them and should be able to mail them inside the US without a trip to the post office easier.

I hope this encourages those that wouldn't buy a set before to pick up the archives. Just remember, the DVDROMs are MUCH more feature packed with TONS AND TONS of bonus materials and extras NOT on these CDs.

Excellent; this should allow more people to enjoy the past episodes of the longest running radio show on the internet.

Hehe... I can't help but remember Starving Marvin when I look at this set.

I'm cool with the idea of the Starving Students Edition since its making it easier for folks to get into the past RGRs at a cheaper price. But I'm cool with the collection I own already since I'm a slave for the extras.

That is the only downer to the original Year 1-5 disk that I bought. The show titles aren't named by YY/MM/DD but are MM/DD/YY so when I dragged them all off and put them on my mp3 player they aren't in chronological order.

I have put them in order in a playlist, but it would be nice on future disks to have them named YY/MM/DD.

Great stuff on the full blown version though. Including some great pics of Shane after what looks like 37 hours straight of interviews and playing Space Ace.

I think shane said in the January show that there will be a utility to convert your DVD's to properly ID tagged MP3 files.

Yeah, basically, you'll be able to stick your DVDs in, and it will suck the shows off, rename them, tag them, drop them on the hard drive.

It is a work in progress.
