Wow... if even big dogs like EA are suffering from the insane production costs of the nextgen games... I don't think there'll be many houses making games for the PS3...
Great fun![]()
Fewer companys, fewer games, I still say a crash or a really BIG slump is going to happen. Of course the high production costs are going to be passed along to the gamer. Are people going to be willing to pay over $50 for a game? I don't think many will.
What is the most popular game on the Xbox 360? Geometry Wars. Kind of says it all.
I love retro style games, but I sure wouldn't buy a Xbox 360 to play a game that's basically Asteroids on steroids & crack. Spend near $400 to play a $5 game? Nope. I'll wait for a version to come to either the PS2 or the GBA.Originally Posted by Zaphod
No, of course not. That's crazy, but it's interesting to see that there is indeed a general demand for a return to simpler but more satisfying play mechanics - where you don't need to spend tons of money to make a potential AAA title, but you need to rack your brains for that special spark that will separate your game from the rest (sounds like a Revolution manifesto, doesn't it ... well, we'll see...)I love retro style games, but I sure wouldn't buy a Xbox 360 to play a game that's basically Asteroids on steroids & crack. I think we will see a lot of companies switch focus to handhelds to stay afloat. Here's a recent Famitsu survey.

I know it will not happen, but I'd love to see gaming come full circle. That is, from simple games, to complex games, back to simple games.Originally Posted by nukinetix
It would be nice to see game makers go back to game genres that have been forgotten, instead of putting out the same damn old sports, RPG, and 1st/3rd person shooter/adventure games.
Like scrolling shooters, platformers (Jumpman), maze games (Targ, Ladybug), single screen space games (Rip Off, Star Castle, Space Zap), and unique games the didn't really have a genre to fit in (Qix, Bubbles, Reactor).
Yep. Gotta say I've been enjoying my GBA(SP) lately more than my PS2. Actually haven't touched my PS2 for quite a while. Heck, if I'm not on my GBA(SP), I'm doing pen & paper Sudoku.Originally Posted by Nectar
Now that would be funny to see... A Sudoku game on the Xbox 360. Wonder how much eye candy they could add to a simple number puzzle game.
Anyway, next game I want is Mega Man Anniversary. And Drill Dozer looks kinda interesting.
