"Consider the improbable is possible"
I've got a PC hooked up to my TV for web browsing and occasionally movies, but it doesn't really approach the functionality of Tivo yet. Does anyone else have a white-box that does something else?
We (Bryan and I) do full Tivo style capturing on our whiteboxes...
I use WinDVR ...

Fully functioning TiVO style white box using WinDVR, used to have a full console emulation setup before my hard drive crashed a couple of months ago.
Hopefully Shane will be helping me rebuild the emulation part of the box (He totally had a l33t Amiga style config setup for me before) when he comes down for CGE in August among other things(I love it when he comes to visit, i become masta and he becomes the slave!)
I need to do some research then because I've never heard of WinDVR. Do you somehow stream a TV signal into the computer?Originally Posted by Bryan 'KidHype' Smith

All you need is a TV capture cardI use the Aver Media Stereo PCI with WinDVR, using Titan TV as the EPG guide

How well does the Aver Media Stereo PCI do for DVD level capturing? Also is it software based encoding or is it hardward based? I would prefer hardware so I can continue to do other things on my system and have it capture.

NFL = New England Patriots (AFC) & Minnesota Vikings (NFC)
MLS = New England Revolution (East) & LA Galaxy (West)
It does excellent. WinDVR has actual DVD caliber support in it.
Its as good as your source going in.
