    The CRAPMAME Thread

    I figured those of you who have seen the horrible MAME cabs on BYOAC http://arcadecontrols.com/arcade.htm would enjoy this.

    Man, that made me laugh my ass off. It's ture, some people are just plain crazy. I made an arcade cabinet around a year ago and it always baffled me why people take the time and effort to build a cabinet and then stick a 14" monitor in it (usually right up in your face).

    By the way, if your considering building a cabinet, I wholeheartidly recommend the ArcadeVGA card from Ultimarc.com. Having a 15Khz output means that games run incredibly smoothly on screen and if you have SCART (europe only) then the picture quality is incredible (split into RGB for true a arcade picture).

    Skillz on the post!!!

    My random thoughts;

    Sometimes This guy is a little harsh though. I could see why someone would want a cab like this; http://www.wickedretarded.com/~crapmame/19.html , that way you can easly swap out steering wheels, trackballs, etc, without haveing to make some weird hexogonal rotating thing.

    Woha...wha...th... http://www.wickedretarded.com/~crapmame/26.html

    God people, if you cant aford a big enough monitor bite the bullet, and buy the cheapest, at least 20", tv that still has rca ins; http://www.wickedretarded.com/~crapmame/27.html

    And man.....some of those can NOT be comfortable to use;
    My neck hurts just looking at this; http://www.wickedretarded.com/~crapmame/15.html

    Ouch, my back; http://www.wickedretarded.com/~crapmame/28.html

    Not that I disagree, but you can swap controls without having to compomise. I have modular panels and you'd never know it unless you went right up and saw the screws. Maybe the guy was real tired after building the cabinet? I know half way through I was ready to just finish it. It took *forever*.

    That was some funny stuff. I loved the ones with the 9 inch monitors. Those are damn hard to find and I would bet are more expensive than a 19 inch because they are made for commercial use. How could you even consider that!

    Though the execution if flawed, the idea is brilliant .. build a cab where you could flip the monitor horizontally or vertically depending on what game you're playing.

    I have a rotating monitor, it's a lot of dang work. Probably was the hardest part of building my cabinet. Well worth it though. Centipede looks AWESOME when using the whole screen.

    Yeah, of all the crap cabs, this one was the most normal one.

    And unfortunately, so close, yet so far.

    Its clear this guy could have put together a great custom control setup.
