DS - how to turn off the backlit screen?

    Hey guys,

I had to take a trip today where I rode in a car for 4 hours. I was looking forward to playing some Meteos on the trip. But when I got in the car and turned on the DS, I suddently realized that since I was in the sun, I could barely see the f**king thing. I looked all over the options for a way to turn off the backlit screen, but never did figure out how. One of the games I rented (SMBDS I think) had an option to turn it off, so I'm pretty sure it's possible, but I'm not sure how without a specific game that gives you the option?

On the start up screen where you select your game, DS or GBA, Options etc in the bottom left hand corner there is a sun icon tap it and it turns the backlight off. Whether it stays off during a game I'm not sure.

In other words, the obvious Thanks. I guess I just couldn't see the sun icon in the car when I was looking for something like that, and never noticed it otherwise.

After I got the backlight problem solved, I came to realize that unless you're riding on a very smooth road, stylus games on the DS are damn hard to play in a car. However, Mario Kart is an entirely different story. Anybody ever tried playing this game doing 70 down a freeway (not driving, of course)? It adds an extra element that the game otherwise lacks. This is especially true if the car you're riding in curves at the same time and in the same direction as the game does, or if you hit a bump in the game and in the car at the same time

That's so damn funny you saying that ... me and a friend were playing in a moving car just the other day and thought the same thing.

    THAT is an 'environmental cab'!
