    Request you donate ...

To secure my place in heaven (and on the GP2x Dragon's Lair beta team ) I am asking if you guys could throw Team Daphne a little Pay Pal donate. Anything will help - he has to put out for some big memory cards for testing - so I told him I'd try to solicit a few bucks. I will, of course, be throwing some cash his way too.

Click the big box ... I appreciate it.

Hmmm... I got some extra year 5 DVDs laying around ... first 5 that donates $10 or more, I'll send a free Year 5 DVD.

$10.00 US? Done and Done! Anything to help the emu community (and the year 5 DVD is a great incentive! )

I would but then Again the Retro and Emu Community doesn't support me.

If they did then hell yeah!

Then don't, it's really that simple. No need to announce it to the world or anything, it isn't like the Retro/Emu Joint Death Squad will find out you didn't, kick your door in during the early hours before dawn, and drag you off to never be heard from again (no matter how much some would like that).

Me, personally, if all the Retro and Emu Communities ask of me is a donation of ten bucks every once in a while in exchange for the endless hours of fun and nostalgia I've had thanks to them, I'll give happily. The Year Five DVD, chance to beta test, first shot at the finished version, and the chance to help decide what Matt Ownby work on in DAPHNE after they finish the project is just the awesome icing on the cake!

I must admit that at this juncture I am confounded.

While I understand - even applaud the support for independent developers, I see a trend of naivety in the selection of what causes one chooses to support.

From what I have gathered based on this thread, it seems that the possibility of 'playing'... er, "games" that few in reality actually enjoy (if we must be honest - they ain't games as such, ok?), ...leaves me stymied.

Given my post asking if anyone has donated (http://www.monroeworld.com/forums/sh...68&postcount=1) and the 549 views, and 48 responses, not ONE person has claimed to have donated. Sad really.

    Priorities.

I could go on, but choose to leave it as it stands - it really will not matter what I say - And I can be quite the dumbass.

    PS:

Consider that I paid $54 for the year 1-5 DVD, the $45 savings I could have gotten from holding out - and now donating a mere $10 leaves me...cold (and subject to you're partisanship and frankly - bribery). Backroom politics or special interest groups - I think we all just got a lesson in it.

This is not bait, just how the situation makes me feel.

I think the main problem is that the thread in question rather quckly got off subject, and that became the focus of the thread. The fact that it's in the F&FB forum doesn't help matters either. On my own part, I've never gave to the organization you mentioned, but I have tried my best to help out those I personally know who've served, such as the former diesel mechanic I helped get a job at my firm a couple of months ago after he had returned from Iraq, or my sister-in-law, whose husband is currently over there. However, lets not get this thread off track and spoil the chance of others to get in on Shane's offer.

Re-read what he said, it's the year 5 DVD, not the Year 1-5 Archive Collection DVD. It's basicly like a $14.95 discount to the five fortunates who react first to the offer. Like I said, it's an incentive, just like the chance at beta testing, receiving a pre-release of the finished version, and chance to voice what we think they should work on next being offered by the people behind DAPHNE, almost every group that functions by donation offers incentives.

As for Shane's "partisanship and frankly - bribery" in this, he made that crystal clear in his very first post here, so I really don't see why it's an issue. It isn't like he's holding a gun to anyone's head or threatening that he'll not be your friend if you don't give up da' money, just that he wants us to do him a good turn with the promise that he'll do us one in return.

(I would also like to point out that I don't even have a GP2X... yet, so very few of those incentives really do anything for me, I just like helping out the Emu scene ).

EDIT: Heh. I HATE my ISP! Took me five minutes to write this post, and nearly three times that to log back on after it booted me off.

Only have one word for you unfortunately:

    ******!

Shane, frankly I don't know why you bother defending yourself against this irrelevant, misinformed dribble.

I bought my CDs and DVDs from the show to support ths show not to get the content. I have all of the shows, except for 2000 and below, already. For whatever reason you bought the archives what does it matter if Shane decides to give some away.

Pull your head out of your ar** turbo2xs. If you don't want to donate money to Daphne then don't. Do you stamp your little feet and hold your breath when McDonalds is giving away free cheese burgers as part of their promotions just because you bought a Big Mac?
