Then don't, it's really that simple. No need to announce it to the world or anything, it isn't like the Retro/Emu Joint Death Squad will find out you didn't, kick your door in during the early hours before dawn, and drag you off to never be heard from again (no matter how much some would like that).

Me, personally, if all the Retro and Emu Communities ask of me is a donation of ten bucks every once in a while in exchange for the endless hours of fun and nostalgia I've had thanks to them, I'll give happily. The Year Five DVD, chance to beta test, first shot at the finished version, and the chance to help decide what Matt Ownby work on in DAPHNE after they finish the project is just the awesome icing on the cake!

I must admit that at this juncture I am confounded.

While I understand - even applaud the support for independent developers, I see a trend of naivety in the selection of what causes one chooses to support.

From what I have gathered based on this thread, it seems that the possibility of 'playing'... er, "games" that few in reality actually enjoy (if we must be honest - they ain't games as such, ok?), ...leaves me stymied.

Given my post asking if anyone has donated (http://www.monroeworld.com/forums/sh...68&postcount=1) and the 549 views, and 48 responses, not ONE person has claimed to have donated. Sad really.

Priorities.

I could go on, but choose to leave it as it stands - it really will not matter what I say - And I can be quite the dumbass.

PS:

Consider that I paid $54 for the year 1-5 DVD, the $45 savings I could have gotten from holding out - and now donating a mere $10 leaves me...cold (and subject to you're partisanship and frankly - bribery). Backroom politics or special interest groups - I think we all just got a lesson in it.

I didn't say YEAR 1-5 ... I said YEAR 5 ... That's a $19 item. I have a surplus - and that's what happens to surplus. You claim to understand business et al, but then when we do something that makes sense, you get all weird.

From now on ... if anyone is pissed about buying DVDs ... then DON'T BUY THEM ANYMORE. I'm so sick of treading around when I can give some away, lower the price on one - raise the price on one that costs more to make because I'm tip toeing on rice paper about who might get pissed. I wish Bryan was around for this. He SWORE that people wouldn't get pissed - that people buying DVDs did it as donations and that I shouldn't worry about crap like this. You hear that, B? Look, I could exploit the crap out of this show. I could be selling goddamn coffee mugs, mouse pads, charging for membership - whatever. Point is - I'm the LAST guy asking for money. If I do, its for a cause (CGE trips, emulation development, whatever). Does ANYONE here doubt that if I could make all the shows, not pay for materials or shipping or bandwidth or anything that the DVDs wouldn't be free? Man, I hate waking up to this crap ...

Turbo - I'm still trying to figure you out. So far, I'm not getting it. Who the HELL cares who I support? We all know I'm a whore for Daphne ... why would it even REMOTELY puzzle you why I want to get behind it?? I've admitted 100x on the show (Flare could probably cite references) that Dragon's Lair isn't a game - yet you feel compelled to remind us ALL AGAIN that its an interactive movie - not a "real game". So, based on that - it "perplexes" you why ANYONE would want to give money or support to it. Whatever.

I'm not asking you to support Daphne ... I'm asking a FAVOR TO ME in this donation. If you don't feel that *I* have provided you with quality service and time over the last 7 years or so, mostly free of charge - without badgering you to buy a Deluxe Leather Chair or pay an extra $9.95 for my signature on your copy of my DVD ... then by all means ... DON'T DONATE. I have already stated that MOST PEOPLE DON'T LIKE DRAGON'S LAIR. Fine - whatever.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. That's the foundation of this show. But I just don't get this backlash. Maybe that's the problem in a nutshell.

If my position and opinion continue to puzzle and perplex you ... why do you stay here? When my thoughts and feelings appear to be in 180 degree misalignment with someone, something, or a product ... I go away (see Microsoft). Yet, despite my straight shooter mentality - I'm continued to be questioned on my motives. Shrug ... I can't do this anymore.
