Your piece on Innovation inspired me

...to buy a DS. I was 'making the rounds' and came across a used one at an EB or Gamestop. I struck up a conversation with the saleskid about DS vs PSP - and he said that they had plenty of used PSPs - with complete boxes, manuals, brand new condition, etc., and they weren't selling. The DS I got actually included all the included accessories (Metroid demo too) for $99.

As we're completing the transaction, a pimply faced early teen came in to trade in his PSP. [How funny!] He wanted a used DS, but I had the last one. He got $70 store credit for it, and he was excited about that... "Dude," he said.

By the way, I really enjoyed your segment on Innovation - thought provoking!

$70 store credit for a $250 item? And it's not that old! Now that's stOOOOOpid! I guess that his parents bought it for him!

I would of gave him $50 cash. Assuming it's in good condition and not a brick!

Might be a good idea to hang around the local Gamestop and counter offer someone trying to sell their used psp to get one cheep?

Thanks for the great words and welcome to DSville! Be sure to pop over to the DS area and see what we're all playing!

Yea, I thought about that when I was typing... It might have been $170 - I forget.

If you trade-in your PSP at EB Games right now you'll get $155 in store credit or $135 in cash.

Not sure why you find that so funny....

The "standard issue" PSP value pack (the Sony launch bundle) is $250, so cash or credit - you're getting more than half your money back. That's pretty damn good in the "retail videogame trade-in" world.

If you trade-in your Nintendo DS at EB Games, you're going to get $50 in credit and $40 in cash. The standard issue DS bundle is $130 - cash or credit you're not even getting half your money back.

Based on these values, it would appear that a used PSP is in higher demand than a used Nintendo DS.
