    The Opera Q&A Thread

Now that Opera is free, more and more people are turning to it as an alternative browser for IE and Firefox. As such, people will need assistance learning the ins and outs of this innately powerful browser.

Feel free to post your questions, tricks and tips, and respond to others here.

I'll try to update this post with useful tidbits as I find them.

Firefox has a extension called Linky.
This allows me to select a bunch of links on the website and open them all in their own tab.
Is there a way to do this also with opera? I tried a bit, but had no luck.

    also:

Opera scrolls more lines than firefox or IE (scrolling with the mouse wheel) and seems to ignore the System setting. Is there a way to change this behaviour back to normal? For me it scrolls too much lines at once.

    So far I likes it!

    Question:

How can I put the navigation BUTTONS (rewind, back, forward, etc.) and the Address Bar ABOVE the "New Page" and Tab Buttons?

I was able to get the Nav Buttons and Address Bar on the same line, but the other two things (New Page and Tab Buttons) wouldn't go to the lower line/level/bar... make sense?

Also, is the Browser Menu Bar (File, Edit, View, Bookmarks, etc.) UNMOVABLE? I like to have only 2 Bars at the top of my browser:

Top Bar (in this order): Nav Buttons, Browser Menu, Address Bar
2nd Bar (only appears when I open a 2nd TAB): Tab Buttons

    Is this possible?

WOW! I noticed that a few pages display HORRIBLY in Opera whereas the default setting in Firefox displays it perfectly... is there a way to get Opera to display fonts/css the way it's meant to be?

[edit] OH MY GOD! I just pee-d my pants finding out about Mouse Gestures!!! Ahaaaahhhhhhhhh!

Once in CUSTOMIZE mode, click SHOW HIDDEN TOOLBARS .. then you can drag and drop just about anything, anywhere, hide it, do whatever.

Anything is possible. I don't believe you can monkey with the main toolbar, though.

Opera is great, but it isn't Directory Opus.

I've found FAR more occurances of Firefox NOT rendering to coding standards than Opera. Most of the time, Firefox commits the infractions, and Opera is displaying things "the way its meant to be".

What are the sites? Perhaps they have problems IDing Opera...

Mouse Gestures own. And none of the Firefox extensions are quite as smooth at is as Opera is (I know, I tried 'em)

Dam, this piece of soft OWNS!!! I just found a new friend/home.

I remember when you informed us of this browser, and I went to get it only to find it was not free. I'm really really happy with this so far.

You Dam Man!!! It's a bit confusing at first, but I got it...now the only teeny thing is, I wish there was a little border between the bottom of the Page Tabs and the top of the web page displayed.

Funny thing about the Nintendo site. If you search Opera's message forums, you'll find that some people SEE IT JUST FINE - while others of us (including me and you) see it ... goofed up.

Thanks to Opera, its TOTALLY possible to FIX the site with user.js. I just haven't gotten around to doing it.

I researched this extensively (I see my messages are gone from the new Opera forums - that sucks) and found a PROBLEM with the CSS they are using. Firefox will sloppily render it - so will IE. Opera says screw you.

You CAN submit the page as a problem via a menu item. I'd do that.

    Nice.

I don't think I will worry about it though...unless I start seeing it as a problem with more than a few sites (or at least sites that I visit often; which is not the case with the "N" site!)
