Just got my wife an iPhone, always wondered what the proper way is to initially use a device's battery. Use it til it fully dies? Charge it to completion right off the bat? Is there even a protocol to follow to extend the life of a battery?

This game's in the refrigerator: the door is closed, the lights are out, the eggs are cooling, the butter's getting hard, and the Jell-O's jigglin'! - chadfx.com

Lithium Ion batteries are supposedly immune to the memory issues of NiCad...

Nevermind, iPhone returned lol
She couldn't get past the small screen size. We'll see if iPhone 5 gets a bigger screen.

Yeah, there is no call for a mico-screen like that anymore - Retina and resolution be damned if you can't see it.
Head to the Darkside.Lots of big screen phones in Androidland.

The best way to treat rechargable batteries is to charge them fully the first time and to regularly draw them down to almost zero. Continually topping up when you have only used a few percent is a bad way to treat them.

Well for NiCads you do that. Lithium Ion I think it's better to not drain them down and recharge them more often. Or at least that's what I've read somewhere. But as with everything, there's probably opposing advice.

Tripped the hammer...it fell down!
Honestly, I don't think anybody really knows one way or the other.
Oh yeah. We've actually been Android people for years. We're trying out the iPhone (recently available on Virgin Mobile and it's dirt cheap monthly rates) but aren't blown away by it. I like the notification bar at the top of Android phones and being able to customize where your apps go and add widgets. And it's a extremely depressing to go from a 4.3" screen to a 3.5".
