Mario Party 9 - BIG improvement

Got this on Friday.....YOU CAN DROP THE CPU CHARACTERS IN PARTY MODE!!!!

That's right - if there are two or three of you then you can play without CPU controlled characters - why did it take so long to introduce this??

Also the new game style makes for shorter games - our first game was with 2 humans and 1CPU (to gang up on!) and it took maybe 30mins or so.

You don't select the number of rounds any more - the game ends when you reach the end of the path on the board (and win a boss battle). We played the first board and even it has plenty of branches to choose from so this isn't just a straight path like in Wii Party's board game.

You don't buy stars any more either - you collect mini stars (and mini ztars which subtract from your total) as you move around the board / play mini-games etc..

Early days but this looks to be a change of direction - for the better in my opinion. Some hard-core players might miss the old style though??

Aside from the consistent dumb ass move of not making it playable ONLINE, this looks like a FANTASTIC version of Mario Party.

My 5 year old son has been playing Solo mode all morning. Video forthcoming.

yeah - I thought that Boom/Fortune Street's online play was paving the way for Mario Party - disappointing.
