Or all the Rock Band/Guitar Hero tracks I bought. Then again, redownloading them all would be a major pain.

As I was reading the line above it, I could of sworn it said: A single Self-loathing...... And I was thinking "what the heck did I just see."

    Thought I'd share.

I guess the only 1 U controller thing is also a cost consideration. So that is understandable. For me, just one is alright. Games will have to be redesigned to accommodate that when multiple players are involved. Obviously, that one U controller limitation will go away with online play.

Some interesting comments from Miyamoto and Iwata--this may give an indication of their intentions with WiiU

"One of the key reasons that such things as the core and the casual exist today is that we decided not to adopt HD on the Wii console." - Miyamoto

"I'm sure everyone would agree that we tried really hard to go wider, but even though we worked aggressively to go deeper in certain areas, the general public's impression that Nintendo was casual grew as time went by." - Iwata

"I think this (Wii U) is an opportunity for those games that were considered to be core up to now, to evolve into something [with an] even more interesting structure. That core vs. casual debate seems like something that can never see a resolution, but with Wii U, I have a feeling that it all may change. If we are able to break those psychological barriers with Wii U, I feel like we will be able to take our goal of expanding the gaming population even further to the next step." - Miyamoto

Despite the hard ass grilling that GameTrailers was giving Reggie in the interview, I completely get (and even predicted) what Reggie has to say about what they showed.

Here is what I think is important with regards to what he said about Wii U (god I wish it didn't sound like PEE YEW as mentioned above - I too am going to use "YEW" as the short version):

Why spend ANY time looking at "the box". It's a box. There is nothing about "the box" that brings anything new to the table. It doesn't have anything new or exciting or useful about it (other than the specs under the hood for the pixel counters).
Why spend ANY time talking about graphical capabilities ... It is now ON PAR or ABOVE the current generation, and the developers are all confirming that. Why would Nintendo waste it's time. You don't see Sony and MS pulling out their "digital dicks" to compare sizes anymore. Nintendo is just getting into that mind set.
Why spend ANY time talking about online play ... Reggie says "it's handled". Everyone knows the issue with Nintendo's online presence - including Nintendo. This was their way of saying "don't worry - we got it .. NO MORE FRIEND CODES ..." and they know their current gen mistakes. There is an established paradigm (just like graphics abilities) and Nintendo is now going to be "on par" so why bother talking about it? Even Sony and Microsoft are really miles apart in online capability - as long as Nintendo is on par with at least Sony's PSN offerings, then I think we'll be fine.

Once again, Nintendo brings forward something that:

    1) Already "existed" per se
    2) Nintendo-fied it
    3) Are bringing it to the masses as only Nintendo can seem to do

And you can bet your ass if Wii U sells at all, next year, Sony and MS will be copying them just like with Kinect and Move. Nintendo doesn't have to invent shit ... they just have to find something that is unexploited, that is actually FUN for gaming, and make it a standard across their latest platform - until the other boys release new hardware with it built in, they will continue to play catch up - which appears to be an endless cycle for them.

    Again - Time will tell.

The "single U controller" thing still leaves a bitter taste in my mouth, too - but I KINDA get it:

    - If online gaming is fixed proper, then you'll be playing more online that "with buddies" locally - so it doesn't matter.
    - Aside from rare instances, "passing the U" (sung to PASS THE DUTCHIE) will work for many local/family/friend type games in the living room.
    - I still believe the 3DS can and WILL be utilized as a possible controller option on the Wii U for a limited number of games. Any bets if the resolution on the top screen of the 3DS and the Wii U controller are damn close?
    - And, people are going to be SO DAMN HAPPY that all their old accessories like the expensive balance board and Motion controllers are going to useful with the new system (I know I am).

Plus, for the most part, I'm a single player guy. Single player games with this thing are going to be crazy if and when done right.

I've said it before, I'll say it again. Nintendo needs to reach into the coffers. Pay for 2 or 3 top name IPs to be done 100% custom on the Wii U. No shitty port from Xbox/PS3 with WiiU controller tacked on; A full, new better looking and playing experience on a "core gamer" IP. This means the Call of Duties .. the Grand Theft Autos .. that means paying Rockstar, Activision, EA or whoever it takes to make a stand out version of the top core gamer IPs.

Developers are already saying they are thrilled with the hardware. This translates into porting these high end engines that every other goddamn game is running on and that means pixel perfect versions (at least - if not better) along with the power of the Wii U controller. A lot of the Kinect shit we saw? Glorified microphone and gesture gaming? Totally doable on the Wii U controller. Front facing camera? Kickstand? Hmmm... Could this work like the Kinect? Hmmm ...

Absolutely, Your buying into the "experience". Games should be designed to uniquely take advantage of the controller.....and not be gimmicky either....that's what your investing your entertainment funds into. You can get standard games for other systems.....However, I'm not opposed to a few games that are of the standard flare.

Do you know anyone that has a Windows phone? I don't.

MS has sold 55 million Xbox 360s worldwide. They have shipped 10 million Kinect peripherals. Just for the sake of argument, let's assume all of those have sold. That means 18% of your console base owns the Kinect.

Now you are telling me that people will run out and get Windows phones that aren't even branded for use with Kinect, and you'll hope your friends also have Windows phones?

Outside of a tech demo, who would develop games for that? You are talking about a niche market so small that it makes the Neo Geo look like a mainstream console by comparison. If you were a publisher, would you take that risk?

How about a "Lone Wolf" developer? Sounds like a market without much competition. A small team may be able to put some stuff out and make a few bucks.
