The Official Wii Play: Motion Thread

We all know we got Wii Party instead of Mario Party, but now it looks like some of what would have been Luigi's Mansion might have ended up in the forthcoming Wii Play: Motion.

Hard to argue with results (Wii Party has been a huge seller for Nintendo), but maybe these Miis are getting a little too much exposure at the expense of Mario & company. On the other hand, some might argue that we get too many mushroom kingdom character games already.

    Thoughts?

Yeah I saw those screenshots recently....I hate to say it, but the game looks awful based on the screenshots. I want to like it, but....

They certainly run the risk of consumers getting confused wondering "don't I have this one already?". WS: Resort had the whole island theme, but a lot of these come off as a little too generic.

Then again, I was sure Wii Party would flop and they ended up moving almost 6 million copies in six months.

Yeah, Wii Party surprised me too. Then again, not EVERYONE is pissed that we haven't had a good Mario Party in years.

Wow.....just checked out the trailers for all the games featured in this collection and this looks to be by far the WORST game in the "wii" series. Where Wii Music felt at least like an honest attempt to do something different, Wii Play Motion just looks like a lazy cash-in. Even at $10 (which is what you pay for the game itself after subtracting $40 for the Wii Remote) I have a tough time justifying this. Unless I hear some really compelling reason from one of you guys for why this game has legs in the addiction/gameplay department, I'm skipping out on this one. A few of the games even have the nerve to be rehashes of stuff from the original Wii Play, like Pose Mii Plus....Yeah, because the first Pose Mii was so compelling. There's even a whack-a-mole clone, I mean, c'mon...we had something like that as a minigame in Wii Party, we don't need a motion plus version. And as far as I can tell, NO TANKS....AND no Billiards! Now tell me, what game from the original Wii Play would've benefited most from motion plus? Billiards of course! But it's a no-go for this collection. This looks like a real low point for first party Nintendo games on the Wii.

I was hoping they would take those tanks and billiard games further ... but it sounds like a wash

It does seem to be a case of diminishing returns, in terms of quality if not money, for the "Wii" series. Leaving out Billiards and Tank would be absolutely ridiculous.

You know .. I looked at the official site ... There are several games in the pack I'd like to play. Maybe it's just Nintendo "site magic".

I'm not sure it's a good use of time to expect much out of this release hehe--it's clearly another demo disc designed to push Wii Remote sales.

I currently have two Wii Remote Plus's (the all-in one version that doesn't require the adapter), a black one from FlingSmash and a red one from the red Wii bundle. I'm planning on grabbing a gold Zelda one too when they come out. One more and I will have replaced all my old Wii Remotes, if the one packed in with Wii Play Motion wasn't another black one, I'd bite.
