So rumors are floating around that the iPad 2 is coming out next April, and I was reading a blog where a few people said they were interested in buying an iPad for the holidays, but decided to wait because of the rumors about iPad 2. Now, that got me thinkin' ...
If I were an unscrupulous corporation (and how many of them aren't), I would start up a rumor in early/mid November that my closest competitor was coming out with a brand new, much improved iteration of their best-selling product in February. That should put a nice dent in their holiday sales figures
Another thing you could do is, if you pretty much know you're competitor is about to announce their next-gen product, you could start up false rumors that the specs and capabilities would be much beefier than they probably will be, so everybody would be disappointed when the product is actually announced. Kind of like the fucktard (whoever he is) that said the Nexus S would have a dual core CPU, and then everybody was let down when it didn't come true.
So, what is the point of this post? The point is that I wish tech sites would STOP REPORTING ON RUMORS!!!
