Plus, I believe 4g will be hitting next summer, so why the rush? It's not like the Droid/Incredible are crap phones
I totally agree. I was fully prepared to run out my contract with my Droid, I mean really both this and the Incredible are still great phones.

My wife who was always a Blackberry girl is sold on the Droid now thanks to Google navigation being amazing as crap. Now I have an excuse to jump, especially since she doesn't want to put out the cash for it.

But yeah, owning either of those Droid phones now would make upgrading to X negligible.

I don't see the draw to 4G yet and even then lets see what happens when we get to that point. So far it doesn't seem worth the money nor the upgrade over 3G. By then we will have yet another upgrade available.

How is a line you add now, eligible for a new phone (aka droid)? Wouldn't it not be eligible until next year?

When you add a line, it's like you're a new customer. They kiss your ass. It worked for me.

So hows that work? My current plan isn't eligible until like march of next year.
Do I just walk into my Verizon store on the 15th and hand them my crap phone, ask then to add a line to it on my current plan, and after they do that ask them to upgrade my current phone to a droid using the one they just activated??

Pretty much right on the money ... Basically you tell them ...

"I want another line with a $199 DroidX on it - here, this sh*t phone is for my existing line. And when you got it all set up, I want my primary number on the Droid and the new number on the crap phone."

    That should be it.

But won't you end up paying more in the long run for the second line that you would just paying for the phone outright? It's 24 months times how much?

Wait don't you need to pay for a data plan also for the new phone. The 199 droid requires a new 2 year activation with data package according to Verizon's site.

Unless they let you cancel the dataplan on the other line once you move the new phone over.

I would call Verizon customer support and make sure I'm feeding you proper information. Keep calling back until you get someone that is intelligent enough to answer your question.

They didn't really care what I did - as long as they got me on the hook for another line.

Yeah, my savings is based on $9.99 a month. If you have to pay out the DATA PLAN too, well - you're screwed heh.

I have a question about Verizon's wireless plans:

So, my wife and I are getting two Droid X's, and I know I need to get a data plan ($29.99) on each phone. Looking at the website, they also went me to select a text, picture, and video messaging "plan". Wouldn't that be included in unlimited data? It is on AT&T...
