Alex, you should be getting paid for these write ups. Your analysis on Kevin Butler as the company's "unlikely mascot" (love that line) was dead on.
You're so right about Mr. Tretton. Cutting Ken Kutaragi loose was the first step in shedding Sony's douchebag persona. Kaz Hirai is a remnant of that era, but Sony started on that path (I think) two e3s ago when Tretton made his first appearance as the humble, nervous, nearly quivering spokesperson for the show. Quite an about face.
Great writing and analysis again!
Tretton summed his douchiness up when he first took the stage a couple of years ago and got booed (knowingly) for that bad Jack Palance "joke".
The businessman smugness that oozes out of him is so off-putting, the guy has zero personality.
And you know, whatever, that's fine, but I don't think it works from a marketing standpoint when he is on stage selling products. He reminds me of a sleezy car salesman.

I have to agree with Alex about Tretton. He did a great job this year. While watching the press conference I could help notice how different he was compared to his painfully awkward first year. He is definitely a lot more comfortable on stage, and so much more natural than most of the other presenters in any of the conferences.
I think the Kevin Butler character is great spokesman for Sony, but I don't think they have the same thing with the new kid for the PSP.
As for the games, LBP 2 looks awesome. Infamous 2 looks great. I like Portal 2 but it isn't an exclusive.
The 3d games would be awesome but I already have a Sony 52' LCD so I am not rushing out to get a new tv anytime soon. It makes me wonder though, because normally I buy the cross platform games for 360. However, with the assumption most new big screens be 3D capable , should I buy them for the PS3?
Anyway, I thought the Sony conference was pretty good, taking second place this year, but still far behind Nintendo.
Do androids dream of electric sheep?
The E3 conference is available on PSN in HD for those that might not have seen it yet and own a PS3.
