Points aren't expiring today, the "club nintendo year" is coming to a close. That means you have until today to earn enough points for the last 12 months in order to earn Gold or Platinum status for the next 12 months.

The coins themselves sit in your account for years before they expire--it's the surveys themselves that are now starting to expire within a year. Some people (like me) hoard the surveys to ensure a few years of Platinum status based on old purchases, but they are now requiring that you fill out surveys within the calendar year in which you register the game.

    Your coins are safe.

Geez--the Platinum member reward this year is a piece of shit.

Nintendo of America isn't even trying anymore...I hope this means Reggie is on his way out.

Noooo! Reggie completes the holy Trinity of Iwata and Miyamoto!

Plus you have to admit the guy is a brilliant marketing mind. I think he can take a lot of the credit for taking a third place gaming company and rocketing them to first place.

I actually like the pin collection! It's better than last year's statue. I still wish they'd do cool downloadable software or something.

Bah, I don't like Reggie--he's a con man. He's standing in between me and some of Nintendo's best games because in his brilliant marketing mind he thinks I want a Wii Play sequel (and yet another Wii Remote) instead of Xenoblade.

The pins looks pretty lame. I dunno, maybe the come in a nice box or something.

Just a reminder to check your Club Nintendo accounts for Expiring surveys etc. I almost lost 10 coins on a game that expires in a few days. Also get your Platinum or Gold reward choices in before the end of the month (about 2 weeks from now).
Oh and if you downloaded the Netflix App you can get 10 coins for answering a survey.

The problem is, I couldn't disagree with you more. I think that Reggie is basically trying to figure out how to strike that delicate balance that they'll have to strike when Wii U comes out between recapturing their hardcore players and retaining their casual players that they got with Wii. If they went with how they marketed the 3DS (I think that there were several things they could've done better with the launch of the 3DS tho), then I think they'll be fine.

Club Nintendo added some new rewards today, my favorite being the Giant Mii AR Card for 200 coins. I ordered one of those, it will be fun! Also pretty awesome is thew Donkey Kong posters, but it is expensive at 400 coins. The Original DK poster the best out of the three. Also, but not exciting is a Metroid screensaver.
