I'll (have to) wait and see how it turns out but, this is the only pipped feature of the next gen consoles that has my interest so far... and If they managed to get Sega's back catalogue as well(hey, I can dream)
I can't help thinking thats there's going to be a catch, after selling the GBA Nes classics for $20 a pop, seriously cracking down on roms etc and having potentially quite a few DS conversions why would they suddenly just give the games away?
"Wonderful innovative titles are 'sometimes' ignored [by consumers], while some repetitive titles with minor improvements in game play and graphics provide much better returns to the games publishers,"
Because Nintendo is in BIG trouble and they need to do something to get back market and mindshare? What better way to get systems in homes than with OMG FREE games the people that would want these games loved back in the day?
Its a ploy to get an installed base of users. One that benefits the consumer.
I'm more willing to believe even Nintendo realizes that innovation is dying quickly and the only way to save it is to REINTRODUCE games that WERE innovative...
Just a thought .. They ain't gonna be making bank on it (directly so it would seem).

"Consider the improbable is possible"
Shane, before you were pretty vocal about Namco, Midway and others re-releasing classic packs, but now that nintendo is doing the same, it's ok.
Explain
Oh, my praise is assuming its fully 100% emulation and perfect. If its not, I'll beat the crap out of them with a stick like everyone else.

I hope they are able to release third party titles as well. If they some how manage to pull off all the licensing needed they have sold them selves a console.
Keep in mind that this is only for Nintendo 1st party titles.
Also keep in mind Nintendo is in talks to get 3rd party support.
