Passenger Seat Radio identified as a Podcast

Hey Shane. I got a request.

Most modern Mp3 players (including my own) bookmark the place where you stopped listening to a specific podcast; if you change shows, or turn off the device, when you resume playback, it resumes from where you left it.

Also on most players, podcasts appear under the "Podcasts" section.

This is not the case with Passenger Seat Radio. My MP3 player identifies it as a song, and when I close the device and return to it, it doesn't resume playback from where I left it, it starts back from the beginning.

Apparently, it all depends on whether you flag the show as a podcast or not, when you upload it to iTunes and RSS.

Can you do that for PSR too?

Yeah Zune and iPod's are weird like that. If the files aren't embedded as 'podcast' then they refuse to allow resuming within the track. Whacked.

Hmmm... The syndicate lists it as a podcast. I'm not sure how else to change that ...

I set the id3 tag to VOCAL, which apparently isn't good enough ...

I'll have to look into this.

On my iPod, all my DSR episodes are listed as music, as I downloaded them from the DSR homepage over the years. In iTunes (wait, put your torches and pitchforks down for a sec), you can change one of the "songs" properties to "remember playback position." Works as advertised.
