    The Official Blackberry Apps Thread

I didn't see an official one yet, so I figured I'd start it off.

I just bought and installed QuickLaunch ($5.00).

The website is extensive and tells you pretty much everything.

I can say 2 things: works as advertised and will DRASTICALLY reduce action time required on your Berry.

    nice..

things I tend to use, though not often or any given order.

google maps, gmail (work), google sync (sync calendar between BB, google and thunderbird email software), google voice, slacker radio (can cache radio stations to card for offline listening) trapster (on occasion), lifeinpocket - has voice navigation, but no pretty map, but at least free (both trapstar/lifeinpocket use gps to be useful). opera mini, softreset, pandora on occasion, the various IM clients. midpssh (ssh2 client) and vnc.

Quick Launch is INSANE ... More than recommended. Thing is useful as hell ... coded the way *I* would have done it. Rare to get that sort of app.

Wanted to document this somewhere on my own forum ...

There is NO way to disable the shutter sound on the camera on the Blackberry Curve 8330. However, you can sorta circumvent it.

    Call your voice mail.
    Immediately start your camera.
Take your picture - no shutter sound will be heard (make sure your volume is down).
    Hang up your call.

I imagine a "null plug" for the headset jack would work too.

Yea, there was something passed a year or so ago, that requires all multi-picture devices (cam on phone, cam on game device etc) to have some kind of sound. To reduce chances of people using them to get a shot of your Credit Card. At least thats what I heard.

Shane's reason is a bit different than that.

I never have that luxury ... what I want pictures of is always dead quiet ... and if I cough as I hit the shutter, it blurs the picture.
