OWNED! Michael Savage dropped from the air

    http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/...id=47277&tsp=1

Acid-tongued, conservative talk show host Michael Savage has been silenced in the very city he loves to whack -- San Francisco. The syndicated host of "Savage Nation'' has been dropped from local Clear Channel station KNEW-910 AM.

According to the station's Web site, "We have decided to go in a different philosophical and ideological direction, featuring more contemporary content and more local information."

Savage is being replaced during the 3 p.m.-7 p.m. drive-time slot by John and Ken, a couple of younger and conservative-leaning Southern California talkers. A Wikipedia check shows they are pro-death penalty, anti-tax, anti-illegal immigration and pro-gays in the military.
I'm actually quite familiar with John and Ken. I'm not a fan of their show but they are reasonable people compared to the lunacy that is Michael Savage. They are conservative on most things but moderate on others.

So what kicked Savage? The non-existant "Fairness Doctrine"? Obama pulling the plug? Nope. Not even close. Savage has been steadily losing advertisers as those advertisers want to distance themselves from Savage's hate-filled rhetoric.

It's called the "free market" folks. In order for his show to make money, he has to keep advertisers. The money people behind his show decided to go a more profitable route and go with less-divisive hosts. So no whining. Either you are for the free market, or you are not. This was a business decision, not a liberal conspiracy.

It doesn't surprise me. It's not like there's a conservative audience in San Francisco. Notice the "pro-gay" in the military stance from his replacements. They seem like a better fit that audience.

I agree with you 100%. Free Market Capitalism at its best. If he's not pulling in the advertisers, he should get sacked plain and simple.

Kind of the same thing that happened to Air America. Never really caught on, has gone through bankruptcy and I'm not even sure if those guys are still on the air.

Thank god, I was tired of this blathering piggy. I used to give him a breef listen while waiting for my girlfriend to get out of work then one night he just started almost literally screaming about how anyone who plays videogames is a "looser" and never touched a girl, etc. Sounding like a like an 80s movie fratboy/jock. That night I turned the piggy off for good, not even going back just a bit to see what he said next. Luckaly I found out the radio station dropped him for Denis Miller. He's flopped his opinion over the years, but I can still tolerate him.

Yep.. dropped in one, someone else will pick it up. Just the way it goes unless you totally have zero audience.

he sometimes speaks the truth. I listen to everyone.. course I don't agree with everyone all the time. But I think what he says is very honest and true.. unlike some people. Shane talks the truth too.. and that is why I listen to him.

While I enjoy listening to Savage, his show is getting a little worn and he either should retire or revamp his show a little. He was debating retiring about a year ago when his contracts were up. I guess they made him an offer he couldn't refuse.

    We'll see how it goes.
