    $140 Blu-Ray player? Anyone?

Looking to get your feet wet in Blu-Ray without the heavy investment?

Maybe this is for you ....?

Wonder what's wrong with it - aside from being a refurb ...?

    Lacks BD-Live for starters.

Seriously I just bought the LG HD/Blu-ROM drive for $95 from Newegg. Works perfectly with my HTPC.

Do you have any glitches with yours, such as not being able to resume from pause, or shortcut keys not working? If not, what software are you using ?

BD Live is overrated. As long as you can do over the network firmware updates, you're good.

It might be "overrated" to you Womp but internet content in the future certainly will be nice to have with Blu. That's why I highly recommend folks to just wait a bit if they want to get a lower price Blu player. By the holidays this year one can get a BD-Live capable player for well under $200.

My point was that the content is very hit or miss at the moment and if you can sacrifice it over the price? I'd take the price.

Let's face it ... $140 to get your feet wet, start building a library - then popping $199 in a year for a nice BD Live wouldn't be a bad deal.

I've only used the Live once or twice, and it's rather underwhelming .. AT THIS TIME anyway.

Or just wait a bit. Movies are bound to come down in price as well. By waiting not only do you get a better player but cheaper movies too. Win win situation there.

Yeah, I'm regularly (finally) getting titles for $11.99 locally (catalog titles, sure) and the big name titles can be had well under $20 now (again, on sale).
