Unfortunately, Wii bashing has become trendy among game journalists--in the case of the G4TV crew it comes across as awkward and forced, as if it's their way of trying to connect with their perceived audience of "hardcore" gamers. I tend to cut Adam Sessler some slack because he does seem to be the most knowledgeable one of the bunch, but I have heard him do it as well.
Olivia Munn is all the proof you need to conclude that G4TV thinks gaming is for the stereotypical young male geek gamer only:
She's kinda like that slutty girl we all knew in high school. Kind of amusing at first, but gets annoying fast.
As I said on the show, I really do believe that big changes are coming once advertisers catch on to changing demographic. You can already see it on (of all places) the pages of GameInformer where Wii games are taking up more and more full page ads. This month, House of the Dead: Overkill is the back cover. How long will Wii games pay the bills at GameInformer while it's editors bury their heads in Resistance 2? I give them until the end of 2009 for a major redesign or even a final issue. Gamestop isn't stupid--they know where the money comes from that fuels the industry.
I guess I'm a glutton for pain, I never got tired of the slutty girl in High School.
