Thanks for the info, looks like a decent selection (love rainbow islands and bubble bobble).

I think that list for Vol1 is pretty impressive despite your favorite game not being there .

Maybe I missed out on a LOT of Taito games that were great, but run through that list and tell me what rules aside from Bubble Bobble (which has been done to death). Even Rastan Saga ... while I liked Rastan ... it ain't on the top of the list ... Where is the immortal Qix? Where is 10 Yard Fight? Where is Arkanoid? Chase HQ? Double Dragon for chrissake ... the ORIGINAL Elevator Action? Flying Shark? Front Line? Niggaplz .. JUNGLE HUNT! MAT MANIA! For God sake gimmie Ninja Warriors! Parasol Stars. Renegade. Slap Shot. Tin Star. Volfied.

Forgive me for NOT being impressed with the list of games they ARE offering when there are THIS many GREAT Taito games that scream to be published.

I expect the games you mentioned might be included in future volumes.

Analysts at Gamasutra had this to say...

Tatio’s new provision of 3D content for mobile phones has proved a success in Japan, though, and in the next financial year the company intends to concentrate on the mobile market, as well as the continued manufacture of arcade machines. Accordingly, work will be scaled back in the console game and karaoke services division.

The company clearly does not intend to leave the home console consumer market entirely, though, with the recent announcement of the Taito Memories Vol.1 collection of arcade titles. The wording of the title and the number of prominent titles missing from the twenty-five game strong collection suggests that the company envisages the series as being quite extensive.
If Taito actually go all out with these and gradually release perfect versions of their entire back catalogue, it would be amazing for classic gamers.

There are some gems included in Volume 1 already though, stuff I never thought would be included, like Metal Black which is a fairly imaginative and exciting space shooter (albeit rather modern...)

So, I read this as "We'll milk the franchise by including 2 great games for every 10 games in each pack ensuring anyone wanting the cream of the Taito crop will have to purchase each and every volume".

Naturally. But this has been the formula for all of these compilations. Personally, I appreciate the fact that they are releasing the weaker and / or lesser known games (I have a lot of fun w/ them, even if they suck)... but I also don't want to have to buy 10 volumes to get all of the games... each volume should have more titles (at a *slightly* higher price, if necessary). My 2 cents, anyway.

Yeah pretty much. But thats pretty much the scheme they go with on everything even including the C64 DTV which was fantastic and I overlooked what they did especially with the Epyx sports games. I hope they release a new one soon and not with just Epyx games.
