Speaking of "formats of the future" ... don't miss this unique offer.
Desperate times call for desperate measures...
Well I say take advantage of HD-DVD prices while you can. There are some good titles out for it. I paid $99 for my player. I can hardly argue that I was swindled.
All the end of this format war is going to do is increase the prices of movie titles and give consumers a format that is more tuned towards producers than consumers with regards to such things as DRM, lack of managed copy, etc.

I have to say I really don't get the point of investing in a dead format.

If it were dead, there would be no movies. Toshiba wouldn't be spending nearly $3M on a superbowl ad.
All I'm saying is ... ride the ride until there is no ride.
There are still people that own, watch and collect Laserdiscs. This has to be better than that ..

I think we're on the way to there being "no movies" though, hence the sudden liquidation deals.
I dunno, I guess if you have alot of money then it's no big deal. But I just want to invest in something that's going to last, that will continue to make discs for the format I've invested in. I'd be interested in seeing how much you've spent on HD-DVD and how that would compare against getting a Bluray player.
Laserdisc has a kind of cult following, I think that explains that.

HD DVD has a cult following now too
I made $20 buying the HD DVD addon for my 360.
I've bought like 3 HD DVD movies so far - all on sale - so what? $50? Not much on the long road to $400![]()
