The Troops Want to Come Home!

This is a counter thread to the common Republican belief that the troops want to stay in Iraq. Well, according to a recent poll, the majority of the troops' financial contributions have gone toward Ron Paul, the only anti-war Republican candidate.

The Troops Want To Come Home

"It is no surprise that the Republican Party has received more campaign contributions from employees of the military than the Democratic Party. However, it may surprise a lot of people to find out that, according to FEC numbers, Ron Paul has received more campaign contributions from military members than any other single candidate.

Presidential candidate Ron Paul has received over $7,000 more than McCain who was the closest other candidate. Dr. Paul even received more money from veterans than McCain! It’s interesting to see that the military supports the only anti-Iraq war Republican candidate. It just goes to show you how bad this ‘war‘ really is going."

Ya hear that warmongers? It's time YOU listened to the troops and pushed your leaders to end the war. Because if you really cared for the troops, you would listen to their wishes instead of promoting your OWN agenda.

In other news, I want to win 100 million dollars.

Of course the troops want to come home, you think they actually want to be away from their families? I bet every one of those guys and gals want to be home, especially around the holidays.

No suprise to me that most of the military contributions are going to Ron Paul. The troops realize that they need to be redeployed to ensure the homeland's safety instead of being involved with foreign entanglements that drag on forever.

Ron Paul was an surgeon in the Air Force too so he has that going for him too and that doesn't hurt when you have THOUSANDS of veterans coming home from Iraq who don't have decent health care and stay in military hospitals like Walter Reed that had rats and mold in it. That is completely unacceptable and people might want to associate with someone with experience in the health care field. That is why ChairoNoMe's position on health care is so ridiculous anyway because Ron Paul has been a doctor for DECADES and understands the health care system!

Hey, a lot of people here assume that the troops are pro-war, and to be against the war means you are against the troops. Of course, with this and other polls, the opposite is true.

I think that someone's personal political position on health care has nothing do to do with someone's medical profession. If it did, how would you explain the millions of doctors that are FOR universal health care and hate HMOs? But that's getting off topic.

The proof for the thesis (The Troops Want To Come Home) is flawed.

The proof for the thesis (The Troops Want To Come Home) is flawed.

First look at the numbers: The data comes from one quarter 2007/q2 and "CONTRIBUTIONS BY EMPLOYER" (I guess if they say their employer). This could be good data if they where the same but they are not.
The "NO EMPLOYER WAS SUPPLIED" is so much different for Ron Paul then Giuliani and Hillary (1100, 2807476.75, 2,158,851.11). This is way off and means that the Paul people are taking the data very differently then these two. So the un-employed are TOTALLY PRO-WAR!!

Secondly, Money for Paul (in one quarter) is not the same as "Want TO Come Home".

Third, why leave out the Democrats’ data? Because it doesn’t help the thesis because you could say, using the same logic, that the Troops hate Mormons.
    Hillary: 13,970 [3370] [3550] [400] [6600] [50]
    Romney: 3,551 [2,051] [0] [1500] [0]

Is it possible that at least some of them are pro-war and still want to come home? I mean, even if you were deployed over there and believed in the war, would you WANT to be stuck out in the desert or back at home, sleeping in your own bed?

BTW: If this poll would have revealed the troops would rather be out in the battlefield, would you still have posted it? If not, why not?

The only thing that this thread says is that more military people are contributing to Ron Paul than other GOP candidates. Thats it. Everything else is opinion.
