To be safe but i have not had any issue with Vista Home Prem.

The Serves Pack is coming soon so it will be better but you can always upgrade later.

The Budget is so i can get a pic in my mind as to what the limit is....

    do you need a Screen?

I think that $1500 is enough for everything that you wanted to get.
    Okay, so $1500 is good.

As for the operating system, I have XP PRO somewhere in my house. Is Vista worth upgrading to?

And I completely forgot about the monitor, but I have a mouse and keyboard already lined up.

Vista is good if the price is right, and if you NEED what it's offering.

Basically, you have super locked down security (might be good for those that are easily fooled by security-holed applications) and a really pretty interface (for those that believe it has to look good to BE good) and for the built in stuff that people won't search out and download alternatives for (like Windows Picture Album or whatever it's called ... cheap, built in knock off of Picasa 2).

If the price is about the same, go with Vista - you're going to be forced into it before long ANYWAY - so get started. SP1 is on the way soon, so ...

How easy is it too upgrade?

I have XP Home SP2, so when the time comes that I NEED to upgrade to Vista, I would like to know how easy it is. or if I should just get it now.

    What are you running, Shane?

I have always been fine with XP. The thing is, I have heard many good reports and bad reports about Vista. So, I don't really know which way to go.

And, if I were to go to Vista, isn't there around 6 different versions? Which one should I pick. The reason I have ultimate on my list is because it is the only type I have really heard of.

Agreed good sir, but I believe he had already settled on XP and

Corporate but i don't think he can get that but Pro is the best in the XP line.
With SP1 (Vista) and SP3 (XP) will add intercompatibility and fixes some secuity issues with XP.
