    Lightbulb GBA slot 2 device

Can anyone please tell me what slot 2 devices will allow me to run GBA games on the DS Lite and will allow me to play them on a GBA SP? Obviously this means a "Pass me" would not be used on the GBA. I am looking for something that requires ZERO patching before transferring them. preferably this will be a MicroSD device too. I hope this doesn't sound too outlandish (I currently have a M3 Perfect CF unit, but want to get something smaller for slot 2.) Thanks!

Haven't we had this discussion in a different thread?

I'm not sure there is such a thing as "zero patching" - since you HAVE to reroute the saving routines to the local filesystem of the card.

Yeah, all GBA card need some sort of patching. A slot 1 card, though doesnt, because its already in the DS slot, acting as a DS game.

Too bad the DS only has 4mb of RAM, so you would have to buy a GBA card to run GBA games.

Shane, no offense meant. I wanted to know if there was an option that did not require me to individually patch GBA roms and then transfer them to a cart. I like the M3 Simply for its ability to just let you drag and drop; but that is for NDS games. I have an old EZFlash cart for the GBA SP and hated messing around with Visoly software. Ugh! Last night I tried my older M3 GBA Player with its 4GB CF card in it and it let me drag and drop a game then play it - no patching required. There may be something (BIG) feature-wise I am missing by doing it this way so anyone please feel free to chime in and tell me if I am missing something. Thanks.

If Womp were here, he'd rant on and on about how good his M3 Lite is. (It really is worth the money, but its pricey $80...)

Ill just wait for Womp to log in, see the thread, and have him tell you about it.

This is why I'm recommending the 3 in 1 solution.

AS I UNDERSTAND IT (don't quote me yet). You store UNPATCHED GBA roms on your microSD. When you use the tool to copy it from the slot 1 to the slot 2 device (from within the DS), it patches, etc. on the fly.

Again, more when I know more.

You can play unpatched GBA games in that manner but they won’t save to sram. All GBA games that use EEPROM or FLASH save types must be patched by hand to make the save function work (unless Rudolph or someone else has updated the loader software).

If martianmaggot wants to use a GBA a lot then an M3 would be a better solution, as the 3in1 is really a DS only solution.
