when I go to use my adminstrator account under the icon it says account locked and when I log on the machine kicks me out of vista desktop. How do I fix this?

If you ever get vista get Ultimate Edition. I am planning to upgrade cause it has a way to fixed locked accounts but home premiun doesn't.

another account locked dammit. I orderd upgrade to ultimate but I can't upgrage until an anytime anywhere upgrade disc comes in the mail and that was last week. I think hardware problems are causing the boot problems that lead to accounts getting lock automaticlly. I need help
I've used this tool:
Offline NT Password & Registry Editor, Bootdisk / CD
http://home.eunet.no/pnordahl/ntpasswd/bootdisk.html
To unlock accounts on XP, but haven't tried it on Vista. The site claims that the boot disc also works on Vista.
Basically it copies the security registry hive, edits the account information and copies it back to your hard drive. Only works on NTFS and if you have encrypted files in the account you'll lose them.

why are the accounts locking in the first place?
