That's an interesting concept. I think they should do this kind of thing with fan films. Perhaps they wouldn't turn out so consistently crappy.
It depends on what you mean by "future". If you mean small internet films on the scale of "fan films", perhaps. If you mean Hollywood itself, no.
Also isn't what they're doing essentially a form of "marketing"? How is a group of 50,000 voting on various decisions from the cast to the script itself any different than the Hollywood system? Isn't that essentially a focus group (aka a marketing tool)?
How is any of that more artistic than the system in place? One could argue that it's less artistic since at least in the studio system some directors have a certain amount of creative control.
Sorry I just used the word future loosely to introduce the link. This was the first 'feature movie project' I heard about through 'old media' (two sources). I do agree that the concept of voting for the script might be a marketing ploy (it works for Big Brother) but if it helps promote a different way of distributing feature movies I am interested on how it turns out.

on this forum and is another exciting example of digital distribution of cinema/T.V, There is big money behind Sanctuary though. I am more interested in finding a way to distribute FEATURE length movies for people with a small budget. Great documentaries can be made relatively cheaply, The wikipedia tells me that The Evil Dead was made for $375,000 in 1981. Why hasn't an outstanding online 'new feature movie distribution web page' arose that sells 'small movies for a small price'. Do you think that in the future 'direct to online distribution' will rival that of the studio system?
