Did anybody watch the preview episode of American Dad on Fox yesterday (Sunday February 6th)
I don't know what you think, but I say it's missing the explosive comedy of the Family Guy; I mean, this episode had like an instantcomedy bit every what, 3 or 4 minutes? While in the Family Guy you would experience this every 30 seconds or so...
I'll stay with the Family Guy DVDs thank you.

Its definitely not as funny as Family Guy. The alien and fish in the bowl just aren't as funny as Stewie as far as outlandish characters go. I would like to watch a few more episodes before I pass judgment. Remember the new Family Guy season is coming back May 1st. After all these years, who can say if it will retain its magic ?

Seeing how that was the pilot episode of American Dad, there's definitely room for improvement. I'll give it another go on May 1st to see if it starts coming into its own.

I didn't know Family Guy was coming back, but are they gonna screw it up by censoring it? Then pleeeeaaseee take it to Comedy Central!

So far Fox is only censoring naked butts on the old episodes of Family Guy. From what I hear, Fox isn't going to let the new episodes have as much naughty or controversial content as the previous episodes. :(

Like I said over at AA, I don't like the blatant similarities between American Dad and Family Guy. I truly believe that that episode of American Dad was intended as a replacement for Family Guy when McFarlane and crew were told Family Guy was no more. It has the same basic character types and the same basic humor, only in the case of American Dad it doesn't really work (at least in this first episode). Now that McFarlane and crew know that Family Guy is back, perhaps they'll be able to find a truly unique (and funny) angle for American Dad that works better. This was very dissapointing, after yet another dissapointing Simpsons episode (but what else is new there).

Yeah, the only thing that I liked from last night's episode was the little Mario and Donky Kong bit... I immediately thought, I gotta post this on RGR.

It was ok. Didn't care for the fish, but I did like the alien. Especially his E.T. and James Camron references.
You can look at the show like today's video games. Same stuff, just a change in graphics.

Quite right ... Now, I just have to wait for another season of DRAWN TOGETHER to get edgy, politically incorrect humor. Fox sure ain't letting it back on.
