Simple fact is ... Abortion is a glamorous right wing religious topic and people love to whine about it.

But until these anti abortionist start picketing intervitro clinics (which, BTW, abort more fetuses than abortion clinics as I understand it) and start adopting unwanted and abandoned children (ask your favorite Christian why they don't adopt a couple of babies that weren't :murdered: by abortion) - they hold NO MERIT with me. You might as well protest the murder of animals for fur, then go home wearing leather sneakers.

I'm tired of people bitching about the problem and either 1) being a hypocrite about it or 2) being selective in what they choose to recognize as the issues.

Personally - if a baby is going to end up suffocating in the bottom of a trashcan after its born, or abused to no end by the parents that never wanted it - I look at abortion as a VERY HUMANE alternative. Sorry - but the song IN THE GHETTO comes to mind. And don't tell me about "The Adoption Option" unless you have an adopted child or two yourself - and let's not forget that people that adopt aren't typically adopting the babies that would have "survived" the "murder" of abortion (low income, ethnic, etc.) - I believe the majority of abortions happen BECAUSE of some 'more or less' worthy reasons; the mother knows she'll be unfit. The mother is dirt poor (cool, we can have the anti-abortion people take on the extra taxes required to support these dirt poor parents that can't have abortions). The family is unfit. How many couples want a PWT 'saved' black baby from the ghetto to adopt? Wouldn't they rather have the cracka-ass blue eyed Nazi poster child kid? OF COURSE THEY WOULD.

See, people don't think about it at a REALISTIC level. They take on the Biblical Mr. Mackey version without THINKING ... "Abortion is wrong, mmmmkay?"

This reminds me of people who are protesting stem-cell research, I have an idea about that. If you are anti stem-cell, then sign your name up on a list and make yourself heard. When/if they ever find a cure for anything as a result of stem-cell research, the rest of us can enjoy that cure while you stand tall and proud and do without.

Hey, protesters and their aires are benefiting from tons of "controversial" science - but see, they don't talk about that. How many crippling, life-threatening diseases and maladys have been cured by things that color outside the lines of the "Good Christian(tm)"? I'm betting a great deal (shame its so early and I don't have an example on my lips right now).

When Stem Cell research cures diabetes or ALZ ... You can bet your ass that those on their high horses will be one of the first people in line getting treated and benefiting from something they tried to ban.
