Help me out here. I was at the supermarket the other day, and the internal sound system started playing this tune, which I remember listening to a long time ago.

I recorded it with my cell phone (notice how it sounds a tad low and shopping carts can be heard in the background :))

Any of you guys know the name of this melody?

I gave it a listen, but doesn't sound familiar to me.

I don't know it either but it seems that it's being played very loud. Do you have to cover your ears as you shop? :)

Reminds me a scene in the movie Airplane.....it's when they are comming out of the elevator and the music is blasting so loud that everyone comes running out of it with their hands over their ears except the main characters who are talking.....funny...go see it!

Can you help me again? There's this song from Megadeth called "Amerikhastan". It starts with a very distinctive sound effect, which I'm sure I have heard in a video game before.

Was it maybe Splinter Cell? Resident Evil? It reminds me of a FPS at least.

Would you listen to the first 10 seconds of the song? It starts with this sound effect but I just can't remember where it's from.

Thanks!

The tune itself reminds me of this song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cOsonaQMy-E) which I love.

The effect is from a film but I can't place it.

I'm thinking Aliens or Resident Evil. I have in my mind a camera flashing and recharging the flash or something. Maybe even a weapon of some kind.

My brother suggests the railgun from Quake, but it's been years since I played that so I'm sure I heard that somwhere else.

Maybe Metal Gear Solid?

Don't recognize the tune, but the sound effect is definitely Sam Fisher's night vision goggles from Splinter Cell. It's been used elsewhere though.

Nah, I'm sure it's a film man. Now I'm thinking Jurassic Park or something. Somebody is trying to distract a monster / dinosaur with a camera's flash which is whining while it recharges, then somebody else can escape.

Crap! That's right! No wonder I kept thinking of Splinter Cell :) Thanks!

I need to play Chaos Theory at some point.

That sound is also used in Serious Sam 2 when you charge up the laser pistol thing.
