Soon you can watch TV on your cell phone. Ah, the wonderful world of convergence.

They should make portable game systems play TV as well. Heck, I'd love to see Nintendo come out with a TV tuner cart for the GBA.
If portable game systems can now play music & movies, why not add TV ability.

Well, they did that with the Game Gear over a decade ago...

and the turbo express.
TV Tuners make no sense. Theres a reason why we are either on cable or satellite. It has a lot to do with signal strength.

Yeah ... why bother? I mean, in the airport, what TV are you going to get? MAYBE 2 channels? Crappy? Or, are you going to drag a VCR with you?
Never understood it. FM radio? Yeah. TV? No.

Digital TV is going to be pushed out as data on the carrier's data network. So just like cell service today if you're within range of the tower you're good to go. Because towers are set up every few miles, you don't have to broadcast over a long range like TV stations do.
If you pick HDTV over the air , people says its good. Being digital there is no gobetween, it either works or it doesn't.

Verizon and SBC also plan on into offering tv service. They're both working on upgrading to fiber. Verizon is putting fiber straight into the home , and SBC is putting wiring in up to their major nodes.
Verizon's solution they said can offer 45 Mbits / sec down. The beta testers in places like Texas and NJ say they are currently getting 20 Mbits/ sec down and 15 Mbits/sec up.
I crave data so I'm envious :)

We shouldn't even be having discussions about this. TV on the go ... more excuse to tune yourself out from the really real world - and now, you can inconvenience others even MORE than you do now (not in the comfort of your own home).
The first time I have to wait longer in the grocery line because the stupid c*** in front of me has to watch the end of JOEY before she'll pay attention to the cashier - I swear I'll have to take a human life.
