Shane:

I have a HDD pulled from a TiVo (some form of Linux on it) where the OS had been corrupted. I want to put this 30 GB into my PC but it is running WinXP. I could do it if I still had WinME with FAT32 but I am not familiar with NTFS. Is there a way to make a boot disk with XP or is the HDD done within the OS for a slave HDD?

What you can do is go to the Control Panel, ADMIN TOOLS and COMPUTER MANAGMENT, use the DISK MANAGEMENT tools to wipe the partition and reformat it to NTFS.

I've seen this NOT work, but it works MOST of the time.

WORST case I've had to do is use Partition Magic to wax the partition, then use XP to do the deed.

Let me know if XP doesn't do the trick for you. You'll probably have to DELETE the partition off first before reallocating it.

Do I have to worry about booting up with the slave device still having the TiVo Linux partition on it?

Nope .. the drive will just be ignored.
