Yeah! I really missed you guys! There's been an avalanche of games lately! I'm really curious about your state of mind these days ;) , especially with the Wii coming out and all. My head is spinning with information. Luckily there's always DSR to sort things out for us!

JOY!

Nanostray 2 looks great, but its still only using one screen for the action. I can hear Womp grinding teeth.

Such a waste man....They got the technology down but don't seem to have an ounce of gameplay or art design in them.

Its like Zoo Tycoon DS, there are SO many ways that you can imagine a game being done properly and then the developers pull off some half assed way of it that makes zero sense.

Wow, you must have time travel abilities.

BTW, I don't remember that quote in your sig. I guess I'm getting old and forgetful.

Although I guess it sounds about right...heh. If a company can't put out a half decent video of their game's gameplay then you know something isn't right with it.

Good stuff as always.

You were looking for another import site now that Lik-sang is gone, I can recommend http://www.yesasia.com/. I haven't ordered anything from there in a while but as a whole I have bought like 15 DVD's, a few PS2 games and only one DS game so far. I highly recommend it for all Asian stuff.

Play-Asia is more awesome than yesasia. Cheaper too in most cases.

I just grabbed the names, only a few of our winners had their forum names attached with their submissions anyway.

Sorry. :p

As for a replacement for Lik-Sang...Recording the end of the show when the topic came up I too had "YesAsia" pop into my head as a possibility.

And finally as for me being too low to hear...Well, it was only a matter of time before that came up as it comes up in every show. I guess Shane's booming voice and breathing just overwhelms my feeble tone. Heh. Its hard because Shane says I sound perfect when we record. :::Shrugs:::

P.S. The wife and I just returned from out outing at the theater: Casino Royale was great...Bond is back to the basics, his true character and without the foreplay. It makes everything since Goldeneye look like horrible B-movies (So long pretty boy Brosnan). Check it out.

Well, the Storytime Theater is HUGE this month - and that's a LOT of commentary there...

There will be more commentary next show. We really like to come up with something special for those segments.

Storytime theater was my favorite part of this show, even though it was really long (I don't mind the long length at all, in fact I prefer it). But it was 4 hours of bliss!

Great episode as always! :)

Quick note on your Elite Beat Agents review. The multiplayer function is also another single player game as well. You can compete againt yourself, while the DS plays back your previously saved performance from the level with the same song. Pretty nifty feature, if only from a novelty perspective.

Me thinks you guys are still missing the point on Lumines ....

Yeah, you can't take away the visuals and the audio and still have the same game. Why? Because the visuals and the audio react to your playing, thus they are a part of the gameplay itself, not just eye/ear candy. If they were just a backdrop thrown on top of the game without any thought to how each element interracts with each other, then the result would be sub-part, and not much better than the PC ports.

If you guys are going to insist that a game isn't fun unless it was still fun when stripped to its bare essentials, then I'd love to see you guys playing Wii sports with 8-bit graphics and a classic controller :P

Look, IMO its not fun. I don't like it. I don't care how many other people think its God's gift to puzzlers, it bored me. Flashy has nothing to do with it, the company's other game Meteos on the DS was much more enjoyable, this just felt like your typical shoehorned Tetris clone.

I've played it at its bare essentials as well via some nicely "De-flashied" versions on GBA and PC and the fundimental mechanics of it were still snooze inducing.

Not liking Gunpey either for that matter.

The Wii doesn't ship with anything BUT a motion controller, so you can't remove that from the equation without invalidating the console. I'd welcome 8bit graphics (hell, ain't that far removed now).

Finished listening to the show. Loved it. Great to hear Bryan made a guest appearance.

But hey Shane; I gotta know; in minute 92:20, when you said "You know what I think it is..." (the reason Bryan wouldn't simmer down); what was it? I imagine change of diapers, but not sure; the abrupt cut-off after that gave it away :p.

Sweeeet show, thanks so much, you guys made my weekend overtime go by quick! I wasn't even gonna give Elite Beatr Agents the time of day from that stupid commercial, but I'll have to check it out.

2 questions:

1) When Chris was talking about Kirby absorbing powers and said, "it's like Rogue from X-Men," was that a perverted "niiiice" that Shane uttered? It sounded freakin' perverted!

2) Can you guys start making a 20-30 minute daily show?

Definitely give Elite Beat a go man, its got some great style and its hard to convey in a commercial.

1) Most likely it was since Shane is a perverted guy. :D However Rogue is also a red headed female X-Man so yes I am sure there was some correlation to be found there. Then again maybe he was just excited with Kirby's supernatural abilities too? Nah, I don't believe that either. Either way the game is a lot of fun (Albeit a touch easy), the US release will be here soon and I plan on snagging it. The touch screen tummy is pretty cool.

2) We obviously can't even keep a bi-weekly schedule at this point anymore so I don't see that happening. :(

Glad you enjoyed the show though, thanks! :)

Now this is funny.

I got the Pet Shop Boys' latest album; "Concrete", which is a live performance at the Mermaid Theatre in London.

Check out this extract (http://www.mediamax.com/flarie/Hosted/Neil%20Tennant.mp3) (just a couple of seconds to avoid copyright infringement) of Neil Tennant's introduction to the concert, doesn't he sound exactly like Chris Hentschel?

Okay, I'll admit it. I actually like Happy Feet for DS hehehe. Sure, it's a complete rip-off of EBA, and those retarded penguins are about as annoying is it gets, but the gameplay is pretty much identical to EBA but with popular 70's songs by the original artists.

If they would have stripped out those stupid penguin belly sliding races every other level it would have helped. Either way, if you loved EBA and you don't mind the creepy penguins, you just might dig Happy Feet--no way this belongs in the Elf Bowling category hehehe.

Don't believe this man, it sucks. Maybe I'll get my wife to review it on DSR since she thought it was atrocious.

My 12 year old daughter finished Happy Feet in about 4 hours. She said it was "kind of fun" and gave it a 6 out of 10. Heh . . . kids.

Excellent new DSR show. I liked the reviews. Story time was great. I enjoyed the commentary, especially about homebrew and slot1 flash cards. I'm looking forward to slot1 reviews. Tell me about the 9X already Shane! Why don't you review MechAssault Chris, or at least talk about it some? I thought you liked it too. Keep up the good work guys. I welcome Jr to the show anytime he is in a good mood. Good to know everything is back to normal here.

I like it but to be honest I haven't played it as in depth as I should to really discuss it in terms of a review...I've become too side tracked by other games and its kind of on the back burner these days. FFIII is pretty much eating up my game time right now too.

I just got to the Pokemon section of the show, and so far it is great! Nice to hear you guys back in the thick of the things. I think that the length of the show is fine, especially since it comes out infrequently. I rarely listen to it all at once - I listen to bits and pieces during the week.

First of all - hilarious analogy between Pokemon rangers and security guards in assisted housing. I could not stop laughing about that.

I completely agree with using Clubhouse Games to suck in non-gamers. I came home once and I was surprised to see my wife, who never touches games, playing Rummy on the DS!

Also, I usually play on Worldwide mode, so I'm limited to the canned responses. I've gotten used to it and it's even easy to talk a little trash with it. It's loads of fun to repeatedly enter 'Go Easy On Me' after you're trouncing someone in Bowling or Darts :)

Can't wait for the next show - continue besting your jesting!

BAHAHAHAHA...oh, you guys are killing me over here...:D

Shane and the treadmill...the "BJ" joke thrown in there (yes, I laughed. Juvenile humor, plus it's my name. How cool is that?)...the baby Bryan's misadventures and squawkings (keep those coming! i like Bryan already!! :D)...and, of course, my favorite funny of the show, about when Shane talks about having taken Baby Talk after Klingon I. Yikes, and I even knew what Klingon was, too. My God, am I a GEEK!!

I'd like to suggest www.ncsx.com as another place for import DS titles and accessories. National Console Support is based out of New York, so if you're on the east coast, you shave a few days shipping time as most of the other major import sites are based on the west coast or overseas. They also post reviews of products based of their own impressions. Their prices are comparable to Play Asia, but you should look at both sites because they seem to have variances on how low they price certain imports compared to each other. I still miss lik-sang though....
